Lots of trusted sources have been giving dates on when the Mondeo is due to arrive. These dates have progressively been pushed back and back to the point that I don't bother any more. It has almost been 2 years since news surfaced that the Mondeo would be reaching our shores.

Ditto for the S-Max.

Now the Fiesta? How exciting!!!

By the time the cars arrive, it would be too late.

I even have an email from Ford's head of sales giving a tentative date for the S-Max to arrive end-2008.

i guess now that they have done their restructuring. model will be coming and parts price will be price reasonablly

with the downturn, do you really think they will launch new models??

will people spend RM150K at times of uncertainty?

u will be surprise what malaysian spend in their lifetime even in this tough time
number plate keep changing

i guess they have to bring in new model so that ppl remember ford brand is still around
and need to compete in saloon market to balance out their basket rather than relying on ranger

During the press conference for the Escape launch yesterday, the bosses indicated that the next models to come are the Everest and the Mondeo by the end of the year.

There's the possibility of the Fiesta coming in if they can set up the CKD operations in Thailand. For me, I'll regard the news as true WHEN I see the official launch.

the new mondeo looks gorgeous. i saw it in singapore and its size will definitely give the accord and camry a scare. surely, it is way bigger than the 407 and if priced between the japanese and the 407, there could be a good market for it.
Let's talk about driving again!

Main factor for Mondeo success in Malaysia now is price factor. Sell it like Naza does, it'll be able to sell in average volume or slightly better as it's a Ford. If Camry is sold at RM142k, Mondeo must stay humble at least by few thousand less, placing itself on par or little higher than Korean cars.

For now, the only savior for Ford is a B-segment 1.6L sedan, the Ford Verve that might be rebadged as Ford Fiesta sedan.

yesterday dropped by Ford PJ showroom to chk out facelift Focus. Must say a good value for money car, even more with RM3k discount(or LCD TV, whichever u choose).

The car rides even better than Civic or Altis I may say, you can feel the solidness of it. Although I think the engine is quite straining abit to get up to speed. No issue with the 4 speed auto gearbox, shifts smoothly. But too bad the interior for sedan doesn't come in black colour, which is a shame coz I think they should make it as an option. Sales would be better too I think(I would definitely buy it smile_tongue.gif )

And I did inquire about the Mondeo status. According to to the SA, original plan was to be launched in Sept but postponed to November '09. This is due to the plan of bringing in recently facelifted Mondeo. Will be imported from UK for the first few batch but plans are in hatch to have it assembled in TomYam land.

And the price? The SA was hinting around RM180k++. Could be due to full brunt of taxes since it's coming from EU. So better start saving guys. I think it's a blunder to price it this high. Other than Ford enthusiast or those who knew better, would they choose Mondeo over the usual "follow the herd" Camry and Accord? I don't think so....

At 180K, many will hold their pocket as it doesn't worth so much.
Again our Govt policies. Hopefully by end of Sept, Miti will come out a good plan for all ASEAN cars, get better price.
I don't mind to get a "Made in TomYam Land" car than paid 180k, as 180k, i can get a S40 dry.gif .
