Actually teflon is not snake oil or whatever super resistant coating or tough coating. It still need to maintain every 6 mths in order to get rid of the contaminants...smile.gif. Even super hard surface area like glass or silica or even diamond without good wash and proper washing, it will becomes dirty and dull..I look teflon as a coating so it is easier for me to maintain my car.. Just wash it every week with car shampoo and it is good to go..smile.gif At least it is easier to maintain then normal detailing marrrr.. smile_blush.gif

My 2 lingam cents oniiiii

I haven't had any personal experience with coatings, etc. But with detailing, after a proper detail and with the right maintenance tools and technique, it is possible to maintain the shine and gloss for 4 - 6 months before you'd need another minor detailing job. But of course, if the coating really requires just a 'simple' wash to maintain (if it really is as simple as they've mentioned), then it should be worth it, especially under your circumstances.

One curious thing though, I've read quite a few had went through this 'coating' route but not much feedback on the after-coating maintenance part though....maybe they're there and I just couldn't find those posts?

Regards.

In my situation, I try Teflon due to one reason. I had been a DIY guys for many year. I even like to DIY sound proofing and stuff. Currently, I only have silver colour car park at home and go outstation everyweek. After polish, clay , wax etc etc..if I park my car outside for 5-7 days without washing, my car will tend to turn into darker colour and sometimes in patches.. From what I found out, this is due to the reason wax absorb or melt under hot sun and all the dirts or stain will stay in between the clear coat and wax. If this is the case, I need to wash it like once or twice a week in order to maintain the clean and clear of patches. Prolly after 4-6 mths, I can redo the detailing process again.. If I miss out the washing part in 5-7 days, or maybe wash it in day 10, the dirt and patches will be there until I detail it the next time...sad.gif

I tried out teflon for about a year and I sent my car for chemical wash in between 6-7 mths. However, the paint will be clear, clean and bright instead of with dirt and patches. I send for chemical cleaning bcoz the paint is not smooth and water beading is not as good as new..So, even I park my car under the sun for 3 weeks without driving, come home from outstation and wash the car, it will still be good...At the end of the day, it will be very easy to maintain for me..On the shine and gloss, I think some of the product out there is better but it is not long lasting as it is... I tried many brands b4 this..sad.gif..

So, teflon to me is like a coating which help me to maintain and clean easier. Besides that, I never had a tar which is stick to my car or hard to clean off. Even after some long journey especially to Trgn, the Karak path is forever ROAD PATCHING, there will be tar marks all over but after 2 days or so when I wash my car, rinse it with pressure gun, apply shampoo and then it is good to go..No need to buff or use any special polish to get rid of it...smile.gif

My 2 lingam cents oniiiii after about a year of Teflon user...smile.gif

Cheers

Chemical wash eh? I wonder what chemical they're using...APC...Degreaser...solvent maybe. Before any detail I would normally go for a strong wash, sometime even to a stage of soaking the car in some weak APC solution, spray some tar remover onto the lower panels and the car would come out *squeaky* clean. If the car doesn't need any polishing I'd just slap on some sealant/wax and it's good as *new*. The whole process could take me around 1 hour (just the exterior only, excluding the wheels). But, again, if a *normal* wash could achieve the same results if using teflon, by all means it's a superior product.

Just some Q's though....

1. How did they remove the 'roughness' feel from the surface? Just by the 'chemical' cleaning or did they clay?
2. Does the coating develop any swirls or wash induced marrings? If they do, is removing those swirls and marring included in the maintenance package or do they charge separately?
3. How long does the beading/sheeting action lasted before you need to send it back for some 'maintenance'?

Sorry for the Q's but always is curious with this coating thingy and so far none of the shops would seem wiling to share what they do....

Regards.

Try to provide as far as I understand.

1- I think they use some kind of polish material which I have no idea what it is.. They will used the polish machine as well..Once, they clay for me as well but only on certain part..

2-The coating itself does not develop any swirls. B4 they apply, they will do preparation first as in polishing and claying. But swirl will still be there if we wash the car with the wrong way..So far, they successfully remove most of the swirls and marring on my car if any without any special charges..Maybe my car is not that bad so they did not charge it...smile.gif

3-On the water beading action. I found out it is quite inconsistent. It would last to about 4-5 mths but everytime after I wash my car and wipe it dry, it will not bead good until it is totally dry or under the sun for sometime, when it rains or when we splash some water, the beading is good again..:)As I said b4, even it is not smooth, the water beading is still reasonable and ok..By the time it is not smooth, I will send it for cleaning again...Maybe 6-7 mths...

My 2 cents oniiii...

Impressive. Now that is something that I would be looking forward to once I think that I'm either too *old* or too tired to do my own detailing (...or when my kids are all grown up but didn't want to follow my footsteps... smile_angry.gif smile_angry.gif smile_angry.gif )

Thats why I said at the very beginning, I do not put very high hope into the PPS thingy. I treat it as a simple solution for ppl like me who have no time to detail my car..In order for me to wash my car, I need at least 45 mins oni for Vios. Another car is even worst! smile.gif I need at least 2 hours to get it clean and at least for the past year, my car is still in good condition without any side effect or patches of dirt which stuck in between that normal wash unable to get rid..

I am not affiliate or a member of SnS but just sharing what I thing might be useful for ppl like me..smile.gif I do agree that some detailing stuff in the market provide a very good shine and gloss but I wanted to try out the easier way to maintain my car.. smile_thumbup.gif Sometimes, I dun even have time to wash my car but I send it to some Meguire dealer in Tmn Cheras to wash it for me... smile_blush.gif

Anyway, If u need further info or skeptical about PPS stuff, just drop by to SnS and throw them whatever doubt u have..I think they are willing to share...( I assume)kekekekekekkekekekek

Cheers
