Hi Squeaky / Tnash,
I am also interested to acquire a used Renault RX4. Tnash, did you get the answers from Squeaky? I'd really love to know the answers if you don't mind sharing. And are you driving one yourself right now? Will appreciate any tips from you guys Squeaky / Tnash. THANKS in advance!
Cheers,
Ken
Hi wclimkl,
Am still driving the RX4 todate. Following are my findings:
1. Clutch - After acquiring the car, I changed the clutch components , clutch plate/ diaphragm / bearings / gaskets.
Now the clutch is light and responsive. ( work done at Renautech USJ ) took about a week to change.
2. Fuel - Not too bad for a 2.0 AWD. Obviously consumption a bit heavier than normal 2.0 car. Good thing you can use
RON95.
3. Engine Oil - Changed at Renautech using AGIP 10W40, engine quite smooth running.
4. Gear Oil - Changed at Renautech, forgot the brand .
5. Speed - kalau berani can go above 170kmh, no problem
6. Parts - so far have changed the link rods both side, bought at Sunmasters TTDI.
Original parts are on the high side $$$ but last longer.
7. Spare tyre - suggest keep inside boot rather than hanging outside, as the weight of the tyre can cause hair line crack
to the rear door , the black area near the handle and the wiper area.
8. Interior - look out for the shrinking door fabric cover.
Overall, I'm quite happy

with performance and the characteristic of the car. Very comfortable and good command of view as it is high compared to Scenic MPV.
