Another thing i found out is that Swift engine actually revs much smoother than both City(the latest year '09, E spec) and the latest gen. Vios (Auto). Especially the Vios, in D gear, i rev to 4k RPM onwards, it sounds like a concrete mixing machine working very hard or something like that. I don't think the Vios engine is still tight or just came out from factory as it has clocked 3k kms plus mileage. Maybe it wasn't using fully synthetic engine oil or maybe it was using thick viscosity engine oil, so the engine sounds harsh. 'cos my ride is on 5W-30 fully synthetic engine oil.
As for the City, yes, it was very new, i believe the engine has not been properly run in. But it sounds better than the Vios when i rev it to 4k RPM onwards.
However, i bought my Swift 3 years ago without test driving Vios or City. I made a right decision.
