Ronald, I don't know how you derive your logic but I will try to explain. Yes, you will find that Continental cars usually have larger fuel tanks. While most people might tell you that it is because they consume more fuel, it is actually due to the fact that the Europeans have traditionally driven across Europe during their holidays and fuel pumps are few and far in between stops.

The larger fuel tank allows their cars to go further.

BTW it is not fair to compare 308 VTi vs New City technically. In term of pricing probably "yes"

What about comparing between:
308 120VTi vs Civic 1.8
308 140THP vs Civic 2.0
308 175GT vs Civic Type-R

I used to have Hondas [Cub, Civic and Accord] too, very fuel efficient and got good resale value .
But now I buy cars to drive in comfort, stable and most of all safe. It's ur choice. Better test drive. Do not listen to rumours. Its ur money. wink.gif

My father is a fan of Peugeot cars...its a nice car..

One thing abt Peugeot, you gotta have money to buy one...and its not RM90K...its more than that if you take into account your next car deposit in a few years time. 2nd value is very sad.

Thats the usual case not only with the 308, 407 and 207 as well....

But I still wonder why a 2nd hand 207CC cost alot to get. My wife loves it.

Thats the problem when it come to buying car in Malaysia. First of all too freaking expensive and the pricing does not truly reflect its real price vs other open market.

Which is why we ended up with A vs B when its completely different class altogether.

How much is that 90K budget of yours meant to you? What was your earlier car consideration? Were you considering something cheaper before and stretching it couple of time and ended with City and then Nasim throw you a curve ball with the 308?

If you already comfortable with 90k budget for the city hi trim, bumping it to 308 (less than 100K) maybe not too much of an issue. But if you have been stretching couple of round from 80k to 90 and now close to 100... then yuo need to look at your budgetsense.

Also don't forget about car maint and depreciation... can you handle it?(this is brain talking) The car may be under warranty for 2-3 years but if you planned to keep beyond that, you must be able to sustain it.

Are a car owner or driver? If you a car owner worrying more about sense and dollar.... then you probably should be chosing the safe route ie the City. But if you a driver, and care less about dollar and sense, go with the 308.

This is not to say City is boring and 308 is non sensical... its just our Malaysian car industry that created this phenomenon. I bet if I were to buy this car in SG, the pricing of these car would have been far apart that the our neighbors won't be thinking of City vs 308.

Magna, thank you for your input,

My initial budget was about 90k so stretching it to 96500 was okay since i was taking a 7 year loan. I was also considering the Latio Sport 1.6 but I think the 308 VTi is alot more visually striking and from an engineering standpoint superior. But going beyond 96k would be stretching it quite abit. As a family man, my purchase drivers are Safety, Comfort and Space. Of course throw in the good looks and its a bonus.

Of course you could say why not get an MPV but then again MPVs are dull and sometimes when the urge strikes and you want to tekan abit and have fun on he twisty bits, the 308 will be fun.

anyway havent decided yet, still weighing the pros and cons.
