Hi,

Thanks for all replies. Been helpful. Have tested new Accord, Slyphy and even the new 407. If I'm gonna buy a new car based on features alone, I'll go for the 407 .. amazing drive and the specs are unbelievable for a RM130K+ car.

But, learning from experience, I'll never buy a car that depreciates faster than Usain Bolt did 9.69. :-)

So, my finalists end up being Accord or Camry. Slyphy is nice but i consider it small for a family man like me.

The winner = Camry. I just cannot accept the weird shape of new Accord (although it has newer and better specs). For Camry, it was love at 1st sight when i saw the Pearl White with full body kit. Simply sexy and elegant.

Probably book one soon (heard new promo coming up for the 2009 batch).

Cheers.
Alex

Promotion for 2009 batch? Is it because camry facelift is launching soon (dont know how true it is) and thats why the promotion? Since the launched of this version of Camry, there isn't any promotion whatsoever for it. So, a sudden promotion for 2009 batch sound a bit tricky. Any idea what promotion it will be? Free LCD TV? Am seriously looking at buying Camry but hold back a little when news of the facelift surface.

Sylphy is not in the same category with camry/accord. the new cefiro aka teana is. sylphy would have been in the same pool with toyota's avensis and honda integra (by category), hence the smaller size.

new Accord? weird car for weird people.... LOL

Hi again,

About to book a Camry 2.0G. But another friend of me asked to check out NAZA. He claimed NAZA imported new Camry from Japan and registered as 'used'. Can get better value for money, coz better specs.

Any comments from experience forumers here? Will probably go NAZA later this afternoon to look see, look see. ;-)

Thx.

Cheers.

i would advise not.

official camry fares better in terms of warranty (3 years) and re-sale value compare to imported reconditioned ones.

they look different too, so there will be difficulties in getting spare parts.

other than that, UMW dealers wont accept ur car at their SC. its ok when it comes to servicing but what will happen if it requires diagnosis job/troubleshooting? esepcially when it involves electronics??

hey, no one's stopping u what u want to spend with your own cash.

Yes - I have seen the Naza import version of the Camry. It looks different & you can see some S'pore Camry of this model. I believe this model would perform better than the local model. I think even the dashboard is slightly different (maybe).
Besides a higher price for an 'unused' pre-registered (ie old) car, my main concern is what alldisc stated. My worry is not normal routine maintenance. It is for warranty claims and parts. I will want a new car with full confidence of support service. Worst still if the dealer is Naza. Lousy attitudes. I had a lousy Kia so I know. So UMW may not be wonderful but at least they will have to honour the service & warranty claims for as long as the car will go. I think UMW will still need to service the KE10 if you drive it there ???

I also think when you sell off the car, your price will not be that good - probably lack of demand.

If you want to consider the imported camry, you might also want to look at the Mark X. Absolutely captivating & like a Lexus wannabe. Closest to the Lexus as you can get.

Hi ALL,

Thanks a lot. Appreciate all the expert opinions here. I thoroughly agreed with the comments.

Went to NAZA today (TTDI) and saw the 2.4V Camry (recon). 2006 model, about 30K mileage and selling at RM171K. Front and back lights are different and better looking dashboard with a LCD screen. But despite all the gimmicks and more advance specs, paying this amount for a 2 years old Camry is not worth it.

End up in UMW Toyota dealer at TTDI. Since I'm already there, went in to ask if they have the 2008 pearl white model (2.0G) that I've been looking for. To my surprised, they have 2 units available. Immediately booked it .. :-)

FYI, UMW is offering 4K off for the 2008 models, thus, why pay more. Hope to get the new Camry in 4 weeks.

Happy Chinese New Year. Cheers all !!
