Happy New Year 2009 !! May this year be a better year for all. Best wishes.
I'm considering to change car soon (very soon). My old 5-yrs old car is giving me lots of problems lately, guess it is due ...
Have been a big fan of Camry since the new model was launched 2+ years back. Dun hv the budget to change a car then, but now I do. :-)
Problem is, have got few questions in mind, should I get a Camry now or ..... wait .....
1. Current model is > 2 years old. Any news Toyota is coming out with a new design soon? A face-lift perhaps?
2. Do you think the price will drop later in the year? Since recession is going to hit our shore pretty soon (projected Q3 this year).
3. Am targeting the 2.0G (Pearl White) with the original body-kit. Do you think adding RM2000 for the kit is worth ? Or can get similar kits outside?
4. Have not heard people complaining about Camry 2.0. It can't be that perfect. Under power? Petrol consumption? etc. Would love to hear both side of the stories, not just good ones .. :-)
Thanks.
Cheers.

camry is quite a reliable car... have not heard much negative review yet... However, i will get teh units with bodykits... look much nicer.
there is no harm to wait a bit longer, there will be more promotion when business slowing down.

Take a look at the Nissan Slyphy as well. Unsually spacious & the price is an quite a reasonable.
Anytime a better bet than the Accord which looks weird, out of proportion & a copycat (5 series wannabe but fails miserably)
I know the Mazda looks very smart. Have not seen the latest version in flesh. But seriously it looks much much better than the weird accord. Only thing is that the Mazda may not command a high resale value in Malaysia.
To me, I would rather stick with my old car (whatever it is) than to get the Accord.

yes, joytoy is right.
i have seen and tested the sylphy luxury. the interior is not as normal as i have expected it to be because of it's low selling price. in fact, it's gorgeous with such a price. the drive was comfortable and it's exceptionally long in terms of legroom. no complaints at all as im quite a big size person. it's FC was heard to be quite low and COULD be on par with the Civic 1.8. and it's ride is very comfortable i tell u, really.
i have tested the accord 2.4 too. dont really like its looks, and the interior is just too black. imagine when u drop something on the floor of the car mat during the night, u cant c at all if u dont switch on the console light. it's quite smooth when revved, the car is very roomy and the ride is nothing like my camry ACV31. but overall, it's a good car too.

hi dawshuenn,
1. the current camry will get a facelift in this year as predicted to be within Q3 of 09.
2. the price might drop as well because the global recession will soon hit the malaysian shores.
3.the 2.0G white is already mouth-watering. with additional body-kit, the car will be a bit like VIP-style. worth or not depends on ur own perception, see whether the looks cost that price. not sure whether the same parts could be obtained outside.
4. 2.0 will be a bit underpower if u mostly drive in highways like those in KL or if u need a lot of torque to push u to a certain speed, else the power is adequate. the 2.4 is a lot more powerful, tested 1 b4. mine is the previous generation of the camry 2.0E, its FC is around 13-14km/L if u have a light right foot most of the time. so the current generation couldnt be worse than that. and NO COMPLAINTS about my car.

justicebao,
yes. 100% town driving is 12km/L at the most i can get. 13-14km/L is at least 50% highway run.
