Swift Ckd Is Built On Cost Saving?

I went to one Suzuki SC today. I asked them what type of spark plugs (preferrably what brand, model & series, and whether carbon or iridium or platinium as in what do they recommend) are for my car, M13A engine, CBU, year '05, since i plan to replace the spark plugs. The technician guy told me they use carbon spark plugs for the Swifts serviced at their SC. Then i told him my car comes with NGK Iridium spark plugs from factory and asked him why i should downgrade to carbon spark plugs. He didnt know what to say. He said they had been using carbon ones at the SC.

I told him i am very sure my car comes with NGK Iridium spark plugs from factory, 'cos i did open up the engine and see. Then it lead to another question, i asked him whether a CKD 1.5 Swift comes with carbon spark plugs from factory. I also asked him whether the SC replace the iridium spark plugs with carbon spack plugs if the cars come with iridium spark plugs. He didnt really answer me. He said he would email/ check with Suzuki Msia and let me know.

My doubt is, it is true CKD 1.5 Swift comes with carbon spark plugs from the factory? And, or just becasue of some cost saving measure and what not, the SC decides for the Swift owners their cars don't need iridium spark plugs?

Please enlighten me, please.

I`m waiting for my car ( CKD ) next week. I`m quite sure what you said is true, have not checked it my self. This is typical Bolehland business practice, maximum profit, who cares quality suffers.
I will change to iridium on the next service.

U can check your manual provided to you, from the manual given to me, my m15a swift can use both iridium and copper spark plug, use only as recommended by manufacturer if your car still in standard factory condition.

So from factory, your car comes with carbon spark plugs or iridium spark plugs?

guys, wondering if there's really any significant difference in between the 2 spark plugs? Can we "feel" the differences in terms of power and fuel consumption.

Actually only now when bro VinPetrol highlighted this issue that I'm wondering whether they replaced my Iridium spark plug to the normal carbon one, since mine is the CBU Japan 06 model.

I can't confirm that now but i think it is carbon spark plug.

According to the Suzuki Msia website on Suzuki Swift recommended maintenance, spark plugs cost RM40 plus bucks exclusive labour for the 40k kms service. That means the spark plugs are carbon ones. Iridium ones cant be that cheap.

Carbon spark plugs don't last as long, their performance can decrease as early as 5k km use. Some say iridium spark plugs give slightly better fuel economy and smoother engine. No matter what, since the car comes with Iridium spark plugs, i don't think it's a good idea to downgrade to carbon ones.

It's been 3 days, still no news from the technician guy at SC.

Just call (and chase) Suzuki Malaysia directly.

CKD is certainly built on cost saving. There are a few differences in the test car ( CBU ) I drove from the one I just got (CKD ).Most annoying was that the agent conveniently did not tell me some of it which are quite important. I was quite upset to find out:
1) The rear seats do not double fold. Only the back rest comes down. Carriage volume is quite limited.
2) Slide tray under front passenger seat not provided.
3) Carbon spark plugs.
4) All 3 free service to be completed within 6 months. 1st service at 1K not 10K. I wonder if Suzuki Japan will be interested to know this.

The local made seat belts jammed on the 1st day itself.
