Hello fellow TDCi owners,

I got myself a TDCi last October. I have already completed by 10000km service but I notice that my mileage is around 8.4l/100km. I reset the reading a few times, it went down to 6.8l/100km but came back to 8.4. I have taken it to Ford service centre (Jalan Ipoh) and they could not find anything wrong.

My driving is mostly city driving. Though I should not expect 5.8l/100km as advertised but there is a huge difference between 5.8 and 8.4.

Any similar experience by anyone? any advise? Another question, does diesel brand have a difference in fuel efficiency? I use Shell at the moment.

Thanks for your input

Cheers

that is on highway and drive at speed below 100km and air cond off and etc... very light footed! they did over 1200km/full tank. city drive at 8.4 lts is considered reasonable and good.
my suv (also diesel) on highway did between 7.5 to 8.5lts/100km and city below 10lts/100kms

Hi Bro, i get 7.6-7.7l/100km, mainly on town drive, RM80 around 600KM when the refill light is on. i'm using BHP, but when i pump at another BHP station ( about 500m away from the station i always pump) only can get 550KM. so better go to station that really lot lorry refill, so the diesel always "fresh"......

what is the mileage u get per tank of fuel??

I think they claimed 5.8 combine urban/extra urban means normal stop go traffic around town/long distance 90 - 110 kmh. So if your urban driving is traffic jam instead of normal stop and go, you can't get 5.8. And that before we count how much load, heat, heavy foot we are. Tyr reset while you are crusing 110kmh. If you get above 5.8, it might be a problem. Don't worry so much if you mostly doing town driving. Plus, your is still new.

U won't get that quoted reading under normal driving abd other car make won't as well.

My petrol focus is also mainly city driving and I am getting 11L-12L/100km so ur TDCI is much better.

I just driven 600km, the more I have driven the better the FC. From 9.0, now drop to 6.5l/100km. All city drive. expected my first tank should be ~720km based on trip computer calculate range to drive.

Your total mileage is 600km? 6.5l/100km is considered very good for city drive :-)

I have reset a few times. Even Ford has done it twice. Not much improvement but you are right, my city driving is normally getting stuck in jam :-(. Any idea how many KM I have to clock to see the best consumption? I am already at 10,500km.
