yes, you need to open 3 valves, some citroen have 2 i dunno why. Just open the screw and start the engine, don't forget to put water supply in radiator tank. do it for 1 minute and then screw back all the valve and violla, it's done.

To test whether the car still have overheat problem, start the engine and press fuel pedal to RPM 3 for 10 - 30 minute (make sure gear is neutral).

That's all

Citreon also cannot use tap water!!! Must use their coolant, and lots of it - forgotten after so many years but it sure cost quite a bit!!! Many Jap and proton car mechanic s dont know about, all this air bleeding and coolant and if you get them to do your Citreon - be prepared for an overheating engine or burned engine!!! Get an experience Citreon mechanic, to take care of your car! Even changing timing belts - an experience one take 20 mins and when ask my regular Volvo soecialist mechanic to change the belt - took him 1 1/2 hrs and at the end the belt was damaged after running for 1 day! Bloody hell! What a car! or the mechanic inexperience problem?

agreed, citroen car need to use coolant otherwise your radiator will clog again after 1 year (last time i'm not using coolant and result my temp engine always high and need to service the radiator in order to resolve that).

It's not the car giving the problem, it's was a mechanic not very detail while performing a job. Maybe your volvo mechanic not marking timing belt location hence make your engine damage. I did change my timing belt myself at my spare time and nothing happen with my engine. I'm not even a mechanic but i focus on the detail when performing the task. This is to prevent any problem occur which will damage my pocket.

Hi! theJacker,

Is this car your daily useage single ride or a play top spare, collection ride?
If that is I really strongly advice you this is not the correct car!!!
To remind you - check and change the wire harness in the engine compartment - it is sure to be rotten by now, it is not tropicalised wires at that time when they brought in these car, mine was a 2006 model ZX also have this problem - Xiatia is older I think?
To maintain this type of cold dorr unique nice car really need time, patience and alots of $$$ to play!
I keep a old volvo with carburetor non electronic and simple back to grandgfather time technology, running fine always!
just my 2 cts.

HI,

Make it as standard when buy a new car, please check the wiring first. You need pro to perform this task as they will know whether your car have electric leaking or not.

I'm sure you got a problem with the aircond blower intermittent right now, this is common for most xantia. If this happen, please check the connectivity from the blower to wiring, it might be loose.

Dear all, after i check back with my friend and workshop, below are some of the advice that provide by alang, for my opinion he is a good and helpful mechanic, below are my 3 option,

1. repair back the whole car that include change engine head, recalbirate back the engine, repair suspension problem cause oil leaking now, will cause rm xxxx,
2. get a new turbo engine and change to petrol but not include change suspension those thing. , as he say diesel will always face overheate problem
3. Get a new half cut 16v twin camp enginee and change petrol and auto will cause around xxxx, but not include change the suspension those thing.

Price different between 2 and 3 is less than few hundred, but if compare to 1 will be quite a big different,

Guys, need your advice, but i actually plan to use this car for outstation a lot and actually plan to be the primary car, cause i really like the comfort of xantian

So every sifu here, mind to give some advice. I really appreciate it. smile_blush.gif

May the force be with you

Frankly - this car is too old for comfort and the hydarulic 8 suspension balls will make our ball shrinked (hahaha - meant SSS scared) and unless you are prepared to spend $$$XX,xxx.00 on it watch the figure - I safely said it is a 5 figure my friend!!! cost more than the cost of car!!! as from my experience of owning a Citreon! Ya, I like it so much and love to drive it and go all out to look for corners. It grip and wriggle on the road like a snake. heheh price to pay for the drive fun,

Hi,
R u sure the cylinder head is konk? Citroen have a lot of small water rubber pipe so u better go through the pipe and see if there is water leak .Get Machanic to isolated the root of the heating, I am sure he can find out with his experience. Sometime it could just be a jammed thermostst or fan relay not working. If u happen to be around Pudu area u can inform me earlier so I can have a look for u. Let me know 1 day in advance so I can bring my infrared themp sensor to check. I charge RM200 per hour excluding tea and kopi. smile_tongue.gif I think changing engine and this and that is a last resort. The cost will easily more than few thousand and no garantee all will be ok.

I would suggest you get 2nd opinion from another mechanic. Well as I have already mentioned earlier not to go for the diesel but for petrol. What's the point of doing 2 or 3 ? If I were you if you don't like it, sell it maybe lose some money and buy back a petrol which may cause less than option 2 or 3 because it easily cost you extra 10k+ after everything.
