Been following the Facebook of Fiesta Malaysia. Noted the following issues with the cars encountered by the owners:
1) Leaking transmission oil. Many had posted pictures of oil leak from the transmission. SDAC insisted that its "sealant".
2) Rusty drive shafts & exhuast system. Normal as per SDAC.
3) Cracking spoiler. Will only repair!!!
4) Cracked windscreen. Lucky can claim.
5) Side rear view mirror can fell off on its own. RM1,000 to replace!
I can bear with 3 to 5. Can anyone here explain if the reason given by SDAC for issue 1 & 2 is acceptable?

For #2, happens on Honda CKD models too. Honda Malaysia also said its normal, and no changes allowed.
For #1, what colour is the oil? Can it be pinpoint back to the ATF compartment, i.e. source? Overfilled? my MINI has to undergo 2x change of gearbox because the SC couldn't find the source of leak but the red colour fluid was evident undercarriage.

Transmission oil for Fiesta? Fiesta PowerShift is a dry clutch.
Can tell me where there is a picture?

Takkan Dry clutch means gearbox also dry. Melecet lah...
The Ford Powershift box is made by 'Pegi ambik kain burok'.
aka Getrag. Reputable purveyors of transmissions to fine automobiles.
Tapi kalau belum apa2 dah leak, itu huruf 'f' pun akan leak dari 'Powershift".
Very interested in this car.
IMHO its looks ugly as hell especially the sedan rear.
But at this price where can get dual clutch trans car?
The closest is the VW Polo but itu kreta cost satu lengan more.
Even then the VW DSG box is not German brand.
Its made by AisinWarner Japan.
Normal manual trans clutch should last abt 100k.
DSG should last longer because it ensures efficient clutch use
thus reducing early wear by lazy left leggers riding the clutch.
Soalan dari orang baring (layman) seperti saya.
But then again, the 2 clutches are taking turns working all the time (Normal manual clutch dapat rest kejap between shifts)
So eventually bila dah haus, wonder what the twin clutch price will be like.
Not forgetting bila robotics mogok (ask Savvy owners)
(hydraulics? servos? you know, if your leg is not doing it, the clutch must be operated by something!)
Hmm.

Manual clutch ada transmission oil tak? If no neither has the dual dry clutch and its actually maintenance free unlike the wet dual clutch were you are required to change the GB oil at prescribed intervals and the GB oil is not cheap either.
VW's clutch is made AFAIK by Borg-Warner and not Aisin AW (Formerly Aisin-Warner; Joint Venture with BorgWarner terminated in 1987) according to Wikipedia.
As for your layman questions:
As there are two clutches they take turns connecting to the engine unlike normal clutch. According to Ford's the Fiesta's clutch lasts for 150K miles (240K Km), don't know what happens after this, replace GB or overhaul etc.
As for things going wrong that can happen to any type of auto transmission. We do not know if Ford's PowerShift (too early to tell) is more reliable than VW's DSG but if you read the VW forum you will know of some cars with issues.
I could be wrong but I think there will be more Fiestas on the road than Polos and maybe even either version of Golfs.

??
Dry clutch means the clutch kering outside while gears are boxed in oil.
Not wrong to call this oil transmission oil.
The gearbox is part of the transmission.
Manual gearbox oil also needs to be changed like engine oil albeit at much much longer intervals.
You sounded surprised as if no oil at all is expected to be found in a dry clutch manual transmission.

Its wrong to call this transmission oil because its not something that you add/top up/replace.
In this particular car the GB is maintenance free which simply means you don't ever touch it to do anything.
What is leaking I don't know, still no picture but if as you say its from the sealed gear mechanism then its only a matter of time before the GB dies on you. I somehow doubt if SDAC is stupid enough to let this happen as they would be responsible for the GB replacement as its under warranty.

saffrin, u are right bro.
Dry clutch does not mean it is bone dry and no trans oil. Your clutch will burn out before u can manage to change to the highest gear without any trans oil.
Common sense will tell you that no mechanical parts ever worked if it is not lubricated in one way or another.... unless takde common sense then cannot help it lor.
