Dear Friends,
I am not sure to go for Semi or Fully Synthetic engine oil for my ride as I have service it every 5K due to warranty requirement. Please help to advice me here. Usage of my daily ride is City (70%):Highway (30%). Thanks.

If you service it at every 5K, a good mineral or a semi synthetic oil would do the trick very well.

On whether semi or fully... It depends a lot on your pocket. I always believe that if you want better protection use better oil but maintain the OCI.

Some cars are sensitive towards the lubes used, as they are built differently from different technology.

Does your car comes with variable valves technology? If yes, probably a normal semi synthetic lubes should be okay as the higher percentage of additives could very well protect the moving parts.

You can try Castrol Magnatec, Shell Helix HX7 or the brands recommended by the guys here.

Bro,

If thats the case, probably a semi synthetic would be good enough. On the brands, it depends on your preference. I am sure you have your own choice.

I just has a small meeting with my workshop manager. He told to go a mineral oil and if I want can also go for their SM semi synthetic oil. He said the mineral oil is good enough for even 2 liter car. No need fully synthetic. Cheers. smile_thumbup.gif

I hope you are not buying into the concept of FS can have longer oil change interval than Mineral, are you?

I prefers to use my head than follow the crowd. After all, it is my money and not theirs.

Bro Tourist,
No I wasn't thinking along the line. OCI for fully synthetic oil is the same as mineral or semi to a large extent. I am more concern about the pros and benefits of using Fully Synthetic oil. Thus far, I only get infor from Marketing Dept but not users themselves. Or those users influence by psychological effect in their mind after using Fully synthetic oil and they said good ? Cheers.
