Gentlemen, u r right.

The new fiesta ecoboost is unlikely to be just GBP 1,000 more expensive than the fiesta 1.6 ti-vct. Ford will most likely equip the ecoboost version with paddle shifts, torque vectoring, six or seven airbags, bigger front disc n rear disc brakes, fully automatic climate control, cruise control & other unnecessary crap so as to make more profit. This will probably make the ecoboost version a substantial GBP 2,000 or even GBP 2,500 more than the standard 1.6 ti-vct!

In addition, I should not use a multiplying factor of only 5. The current price of the fiesta 1.6 ti-vct is about GBP 15,000 in UK and RM 83,000 in Bolehland. So the multiplying factor to use should be 5.53 (83,000 / 15,000). Hence the price different between the ecoboost and standard version is a hefty RM11,060 (GBP2,000 x 5.53) or RM13,825 (GBP2,500 x 5.53) more!!!

Thank u guys for pointing out the mistake. Cheers. smile_thumbup.gif

guess if you have the luxury of waiting you should. But i'm sure when the time comes there will be more offerings available from other brands that will keep you up whole night thinking about it again. Example Protons exora have launch their 1.6 CPS turbo. Hopefully that engine will be offered on the Satria Neo. IMHO this engine on a Satria Gti platform is a better combination.

Fiesta ST sounds so sweet.. my guess it will be same priced as Alfa's Mito est 150k.

ya loh, ya loh. the new hyundai avante with direct injection 1.6 (150bhp) is on the way also. the exterior look fantastic when i saw it in klms.

sam, pls dun guess so high leh, my budget only about 100k. if ford price the fiesta ecoboost more the 100k, i rather get the focus. for about 116k, better quality interior, more space for the rear passengers and control blade independent suspension. no matter how good they managed to tune a torsion beam suspension, it can never beat independent suspension in cornering stability and comfort over rough surfaces.

Review of Ford 1.6 ECOBoost Engine

http://www.autoexpre...ost_review.html

This is really good stuff.
The price of the current Focus is partly high because its a 2L engine, now if SDAC does brings in the new Focus with the 1.6 EcoBoost engine @ 180 HP, it will have no rivals at that price/power range and would do well if not better than the Fiesta.
I am not expecting the Fiesta to come with this engine for some time as they kind of have to sell the current models but for the Focus there is a very high possibility.

Glad that u enjoyed the review. The current engine development trend is moving towards turbo charged petrol engine with direct injection (VW, Benz). Clean turbo charge diesel engine is expensive to built. Hybrid battery is toxic to built and recycle. Ford ecoboost engine is fuel efficient AND powerful. Its fuel consumption is similar to a normal 1.6 engine but has the power of a 2.4 engine. If ford price its coming soon focus 1.6 ecoboost at about RM110 - 120, they may stand a good chance to catch up with altis and civic.

I hope Ford will launch its new focus together with the fiesta ecoboost. Possible as the the current fiesta is rather slow selling, about 300 units per month since Nov 2010. Vios about 2,500 per month, City about 1,500 per month, Forte about 500 per month. Somemore, i heard SDAC is already starting to give away discount of RM1,000. They dun give discount when its selling well. Finger crossed!

The Focus is due for replacement so the 2011 model is coming, just a question of when.
Apparently SDAC have sold more Fords in the last few months of last year, since they launched the Fiesta, than they have in the whole of last year. So I think they are doing OK. 1K discount is very little lah and its probably because of the waiting period.
