SERLOCHEN of Johor Baru claims he has recurring noise problems with his brand new Audi A4, and is now asking replacement.
"I received the car on May 26, and while driving it the first time, I detected noise from the accelerator.
"I immediately informed the sales agent and branch manager at the Audi branch in Johor Baru and they both advised me to continue driving for a few days until the sound disappears."
SERLOCHEN says the noise persisted, and when he contacted Audi on this, they asked him to bring the car for a technical inspection on June 1.
"On that day, the technician inspected my car and told me it was in good condition, but upon driving home, I detected the noise again."
Again, SERLOCHEN was asked to bring the car to the Audi service centre for another inspection on June 4.
"The technician again said the car was in good condition, but while driving home, there were the same noise. I called the technician and he asked me to bring the car back right away," he says.
"This time, I joined the technician and his colleague for a test drive, but the car didn't have the irritating sound."
SERLOCHEN says the technicians reassured him they would convey the matter to the Audi headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
"The Johor Baru branch manager told me Audi Malaysia would look into the matter seriously and that he would also bring in a technician from Kuala Lumpur or send my car there for further checks," he says, adding that he was also requested to leave his car with them for a thorough check and that some parts might be changed.
SERLOCHEN handed over the car on June 14, and five days later, on June 19, he was asked to collect his car.
"They told me the noise problem had been solved and that they had changed some parts, but when I drove the car, the same problem recurred," he says, adding that upon complaining again, he was informed that Audi would fly in German technicians to inspect his car.
"I handed them my car on June 30, and they told me they had solved and rectified other cars with similar problems in KL."
SERLOCHEN collected his car on July 3 but found the noise problem persisted and this time, the wheel alignment was out, and sounds from the steering wheel, and the rear of the car.
"I believe the car was defective upon purchase. If Audi Malaysia plans to repair or replace any more parts, they may do so but I am not taking back the car. I want a new one of the same model with no defect or underlying fault as soon as possible."
