I have much respects for our former rally champion YS, but his arcticle on
this coming event is rather 'funny' in the sense that he being the author
and described his sons ".. the well-known Khong brothers " and " ... Ian
and Ivan are sons of famous five time Malaysian Rally Champion, Y.S. Khong"

Unless the article is not written by himself, or otherwise he should get
someone else to write it with his input or whatever. This sounds too much
of .....

And the comments "Racing is an important part of what Ford is all
about...." from Deborah Aronson are maybe applicable for Ford worldwide,
but definitely not Malaysia, we don't see Rangers, Escapes flying
everywhere with huge exhaust etc. Big Smile

Then, "The Ford Lynx needs no introduction to the Malaysian market. Owners
will attest to the distinction and superior driving characteristics of the
Lynx. With its superior handling and road dynamics, the Ford Lynx performs
admirably in a variety of situations"

True enough, the Lynx deserves much better acceptance for its capability
but unfortunately sales figures are not that positive. So, is Ford
Malaysia doing anything about it ?

Oh, to add on, Richard, the previous big boss of Ford Malaysia used to
visit here & answered many questions, which was very good in boosting the
confidence of Ford owners and bringing the ties closer, but ... wonder now
is there anyone at Ford ever visiting this forum ??!!

All,

Lots of bad things have been said about FORD.
Unfortunately, that is the attitude of Malaysians. The critics do not
realise that without manufacturers backing/participating in the
motorsports industry, there would not be any motorsports in Malaysia.

Proton in WRC, Perodua in Malaysian Rally Championship, FORD in
Silverstone Tarmac Rally, LOTUS in MME, they are all, in their own way,
promoting the motorsports industry in Malaysia.

If enough bad criticism is said against FORD, I would not be surprised if
they completely pulled out from the rally series, then Malaysian
motorsports industry and the general car loving public will be the loser,
not FORD.

Why "definitely not Malaysia"? At least we have the Ford Lynx taking part
in a properly organised race, with backing from Ford Malysia.
Where are the Nissans, Toyotas, Mazdas? For that matter, how many car
companies actually participate, in any form at all?
Lots of Hondas and Mitsus, all run by privateers.

"Flying everywhere with huge exhausts" is not racing ... it is Ah Bengism.
I, for one, am glad that there are no Rangers and Escapes "flying
everywhere with huge exhaust."

Huh ?!

What's the 'bad things' that we have said about Ford ? Is Ford alone being
critised ? Go check Waja, Toyota forums.

Now, I used to drive Ford and I loved them all, if you have read my
posting before, I almost got the Lynx but ended up with Toyota, thanks to
the other Mr. Tee of Ford/PJ branch who never bother to follow-up with my
test drive request. From some recent posting of other forumers, apparently
this Mr. Tee is still there and no sign of improvement. So, shall i praise
Ford for this ?

Bottom line is how would Ford take such 'criticisms', they can play harsh
decision with withdraw all motoring sponsor, or take it constructively to
provide a better service to owner & potential owners alike. If we need to
beg them for sponsor, then it's better not to have it. I for once will
never want to 'praise' them in order to be a 'winner' in motoring.

Last but not least, i believe all Ford owners were enjoying Mr Richard's
presence in the forum, so what I said was just that such 'closeness' is no
longer there. Maybe Ford Malaysia doesn't view this as critical, so be it.
I was just raising my opinion.

"definitely not Malaysia"

This comment is reflecting from the PRESS RELEASE of FORD MALAYSIA, so,
it's taking a local context, and I've also clarified that the statement
from the press release was "applicable for Ford worldwide". Hope that was
clear enough.

And if you take it literally that I meant "big exhaust pipes" are
motoring, then, soli-lah, it was foolish of me to have said it that way.

Just to clarify again, please read thru my ending note :-

"True enough, the Lynx deserves much better acceptance for its capability
but unfortunately sales figures are not that positive. So, is Ford
Malaysia doing anything about it ? "

Was i making destructive 'criticisms' ?

Cheers ! Big Smile

Being Fordy, really great NOT to see plenty of Fords with Ah Beng's attitude!!

Most Fordies, in my observation, are guys who really appreciate Auto
Engineers & thier auto engineering.... we don't simply modify our car just
like all Ah Bengs did!! which is more to "show-off" than its function. Dead

Look at most of Ah Beng's modified protons, hondas, toyotas etc..... they
treat their cars like toys... do not appreciate the auto engineering at
all. What is so great with BIG & LOUD exhaust when yr car still move like
turtle!! TongueDeadAngry

Again, really great NOT to see Escape or Ranger or Lynx flying with stupid
big exaust or all Ah Beng's x'corries.Smile

Anyway, good luck to Ford Racing team!

Ivan,

I think the comments we give here are meant as constructive critic.

Example the complain on customer complain, or maybe the past mails
regarding how we feel that FORD Malaysia should get the actual Focus for
the local tarmac and not Modify the Focus with B8 Turbo.

We here are lovers of Ford and want to see Ford Grow ....and Grow....we
comment of the need of more performance cars like the late TX-3......great
cars which even you will admit.

Enough said, good luck to you on the next race man...

GO FORDDDD !!!!!

Tee,

Rest assured that the people at Ford pay great attention to what is being
said in this forum. They might not reply, but I know all the brand
managers lurk here.

This forum is probably the best way to get your views to the people at
Ford, so keep posting..

btw, make sure you guys visit the Ford Booth at KLIMS, lotsa cool stuff
gonna be there. And dont be shy, register yourselfs at teh booth and say
high to the ppl there.

But but ... they have a sponsored forum at The Star liao mah ...

Anyway, we raise our thoughts & hope to get our `investment` back from the
good value of the product & services, this is applicable to all products
but not just cars, so, Ford cars likewise.

Defensive comments show only negative perception of how a company would
deal with situations. Controversy may not be bad, it all depends on how
it`s being dealt with. Anyhow, aren`t the recent Ford Ranger Auto
advertisements rather `controversial` as well ? As posted before, I
wouldn`t show a bit of `respect` for any road hogger even they drive a
Ranger Auto, nor the police and any other big shots even the Royal families
as well!

By the way, Jiun147, u work closely with Ford ? Participating at the KLIMS
too ?
