Do they teach this stuff, perhaps in the AAM defensive driving course?

You can practice that on large corner/curve, it provide similar effect. Try the difference between both methods, you will feel firmer and better ground holding when you are on lower gear with slight acceleration.

My GY Ducaro only got 3mm left b4 it reach the wear indicator and on the shallowest puddle it will aquaplane.
Its worst if its dark as the puddle will look the same as the road surface.

This is what i do:
1) brake b4 the puddle and let it go b4 reaching the puddle.
2) both hand on steering
3) counter steer when needed.dont put too much input, just enough to head the car to the right direction.

It was nerve wrecking on the 1st 2-3 puddle but it turn into adrenaline pumping action when u got use to it.
As long as u dont go too fast u wont die.

Whatever it is, let go your accel and PREPARE to brake, but dun step on the brake yet coz you might wanna accel again.. Hands never off your steering pls! Counter steer gently not exceeding 60' will not make your car spin like a gasing.
Ram me if you can!

Firstly, you can got ABS or not?
If got ABS then not a problem. If without, then just lift of the throttle and you will slow down especially at 50 to 80kph only.
Even if faster, never lock your brakes as you will skid and there is no control even if counter steer a FWD. Once you let go the brakes it is easy to counter steer especially for FWD.
With the tyres I use, I normally go faster in the rain............ smile_wink.gif

Don't you read the whole sentence? With the tyres I use, I normally go faster in the rain, means I am using wet traction tyres.... smile_tongue.gif
