It's with rear wiper.
The wiper penetrates the rear windscreen.
A supplier tells me this is how they know that this car was fully imported.

Rarely see this era Nissan in Japan anymore. I guess no one thought them worth keeping. Nice, simple design, but it's a shame about those U.S. safety-inspired bumpers.
