I bought 2 bottles (0.5Litre/bottle) of perodua red coolant from SC, total RM25. The bottle label printed "Formulated and manufactured by Petronas Lubricants International Sdn Bhd". So it's not really the similar Toyota Long Life Coolant like some ppl mentioned in the forum.

My questions are:

1) 2 bottles of 0.5L each total equal to 1 litre only, is it sufficient for the kenari/kelisa engine?

- i misplaced my kenari owner manual, can some1 pls share the info in owner manual under the Lubricant Recommendation section the Engine Coolant Capacity in Litre (With/includes reserve tank) stated how many Litre?

I have a kancil owner manual here stated 3 Litre with reserve tank, how about kenari / kelisa?

2) Under Peringatan (warning ) section on the label, it states
- Jangan dicampur bendalir pendingin ini dengan cecair yang lain.
- Tidak Boleh dicampur dengan lain-lain bendalir pendingin.

SO, is it a Premix coolant (meaning Non-concentrated type )? cause it says Don't Mix with other liquid (cecair yang lain). If it's Premix type then no need to mix with water.

The 2nd warning no question though as i do aware shouldn't mix it with other type /brand of coolant.

3) I plan to flush the radiator using the fastest method i.e. remove top hose -> start engine > wait for thermostat auto open to drain out Hot water from top hose > then slowly add in RO water into radiator > continue until water flush out from top hose is clear enough > then stop the engine. Will this method do any Harm to auto tranny kenari? I used this method on other car, so far so good, fast n effective.

Thank in advance. smile_cool.gif

found my owner's manual lolz

Summary from owner's manual Bahan Pendingin Section below: (For Kenari)

1) Total Capacity (NOT includes the reserve tank) :

Manual Transmission : 3 Liters

Automatic Transmission : 2.9 Liters

2) Capacity of Reserve tank :

- At HIGH marking : 0.45 Liters
- At LOW marking : 0.25 Liters

3) Coolant concentration :

- If 30% coolant 70% distilled/RO water : Freezing Point is -12° C
- If 50% coolant 50% distilled/RO water : Freezing Point is -35° C

Note: No mention on Boiling Point.

----------------------------------------

Hence, the total Capacity with reserve tank at High Mark :

= 3.35 Liters for Auto kenari

= 3.45 Liters for Manual

----------------------------------------

To achieve 50% mixture ratio, need to buy 4 bottles of perodua coolant of 0.5L per bottle.
Then pour in roughly 3 bottles plus another 200ml, so total coolant of approx 1.7 L.

Total Coolant Cost = 4 bottle x RM12.5 each = RM50

---------------------------------------

From my flushing observation:

capacity drained from the Radiator bottom Drain Plug opening = 2.7 L (includes Reserve Tank capacity at HIGH mark).

Remainder of coolant flushed out from Engine Block (when thermostat auto opened) = approx. 650ml.

Simple way to flush radiator.

1. Wait engine cools first.
2. Remove radiator cap and the drain plug (at the bottom of the radiator)
3. After remove drain plug, coolant will flow out
4. Flush with clean water into the radiator filler hole until the one coming out from the bottom is clear.
5. Screw back the drain plug
6. Fill up the radiator with water only
7. Start engine, let it run till hot. Once hot, you can see the water bubling as the radiator starts pumping and the fan running. If not, let it run a while longer and it will.
8. Once hot, you can see the water color change as the coolant stuck inside the engine block is now circulating
9. Continue to pour water until you dilute water content inside the radiator
10. Repeat until satisfied smile_approve.gif
11. Turn off engine and wait until radiator water cool (should be cool since you have been continuously pouring water in)
12. Unscrew the drain plug and drain away
13. Pour a bit of water
14. Pour the coolant (Save some for the reserve tank)
15. Top off with water until full
16. Make yourself a nice burger to celebrate

Note :
- Better to mix the water and coolant so that the radiator and reserve tank have the same water-coolant ratio
- Don't use water from your hose directly into the radiator if the water is not filtered becoming to your house. I have a main pipe filter. If you don't, then filter the water into multiple pails for use
- By theory, it would be best to use RO water. But then the coolant's purpose is to prevent rust at the same time too. So you decide. The benefits will be minimal
- Filtered water is a MUST. Straight from pipe would results in contaminant going into your radiator. Things like dirt or mud, however small will accumulate.
- Change frequently, or as frequent as your car manual suggest
- Use approved radiator coolant. Don't MIX. Don't use the wrong type.
- Stay clear of the radiator fan! It might spin on its own, leading to slasher-movie type hand severing incidents.
