440ci: I`m a bit confused with ur last sentence in 1st paragraph. Do u
mean if i apply the autoglym gloss now, my car will look better than when
i collected it?
yes, i believe the local car wash guys stripped off a layer of wax fr my
car. i can see whitish material accumulated at the edges (something i`ve
never seen before). the high pressure water jet may have done this.

Is this normal?

What I meant was that, in most cases, dealers wont use top quality
products to valet a car before handover. A better quality material will
generally give a noticably better finish and last longer. I was taking
new cars at one time that always felt gritty because of the cheap glaze
they used. I later supplied them with my own waxes and the problem went
away. The whitish material though sounds like wax residue left over from
the intitial polishing, perhaps you just hadn't noticed it until now.
So, with a top quality finish, my guess is that your car will be better
than when new without too much effort.
