Dear Bros,

I forgot to change ATF for my Avanza (2005) and it overshoot 50k (current miliage is 151k). I found that the ATF is in grey color and even after changed, it is still in grey color. My foreman told me that my automatic transmission is in bad shape. Does changing the ATF filter, will able to solve or buy some time before AT totally damage? or any other advice.

yup..then after these no need to follow exactly 100k. ATF for avanza very little and damn cheap, you can replace it every 40k or once a year. nothing harm done if you over maintain it.

cheers

finally I manage to find a shop repairing the gearbox. The shop located in Kajang and run by a malay guy. I saw he reapiring Serena gearbox. He is charging RM 1800 to repair and install back with 6 months warranty. I guess this is far more better deal than buy a recondition gearbox with RM 2600 excluding installation charges and only 2 month warranty.

does changing filter and running ATF flush help in resolving this problem? I read it on http://www.automd.com/ that it will clean the metal debris in the system.

I already flush my ATF and after couple of run, the color change back to grey. 3-4 weeks ago, my transmission gives problem. The engine stops when I change to R or D in the morning and the engine needs to run for at least 30 min before the gear moved to D or R.

It seems inside the gearbox the bearing has been damage severly

Hi All,

Can anybody tell me whether there is a difference between 1.3a and 1.5a auto gearbox or do they employ the same gearbox for the upgraded 1.5d version. I am looking for 1.3a to maximize low FC. Thank you.
