Hi,
Just had a test drive with SA today to share with them on my car problem. Apparently, a demo car also facing similar noise like "thut" sound during drive, but the shift shock is very mild and rare. However, the noise and shift shock in my car is more apparent and frequent. This noise can also be heard when u shift gear from D to N, like metal sound..Very irritating....Not sure if you guys noticed this in your car??

I dont think mine got "thut" sound...what is your ODO milleage now?
Where's the "thut" sound is come from?

Hi,
My mileage is at 3,400km.. I was told the noise may come from the steel belt that holds the CVT gears??? Hence, I presume the "thut" noisy came from gearbox through gear coupling mechanical action..FYI, for me, this noise came from two sources:
i. during driving conditions
ii. when you shift gear from D to N. This is noise come on and off..So, you may not experience them all the time..

So, do you hear any noise from your car?

Besides this noise, I also felt the gear shift shock which is the most irritating part..

Will need to check in the car overnight next week for them to check..hopefully, just a minor problem..

I don't have the noise like that but my car's noice all come from interior's plastic part.."ngek ngek", "klut klut"...which are all from creation of poor workmanship and loussy quality part.

As for shift shock...yes...I will experience it when driving at 50KM while the RPM at 1100. I never understand why??

my altis1.8e already 3 yrs hence i went outside for the 50k service. but surprisingly the outside technician chged my cvt fluid and the cost is RM190. As i read from the thread and the manual, the CVT fluid shd be checked at every 40k like 40/80/120k...
so i just wonder is it correct to chg it during 50k service? besides, they also put sticker next cvt fluid service is 70k - means frequency is every 20k. i doubt whether the outside service center knows how to service the new altis cvt. probably they treat it like the sylphy cvt. due to this, i am wondering shd i go back to toyota sc.

please advise.

Normally when you go to an outside workshop, you will need to tell them what to do. Most of them do not have a specific work programme. They just do standard oil changes to earn money. You can also supply your own oil and spare parts. So, if you are knowledgeable outside workshops can be a good option.

Is your outside workshop just a general service centre or a Toyota specialist? If you are not too comfortable asking for things to be done, then its probably better that you return to a UMWT SC.
