thanks man songx for the condolences. but really i have been
expecting the worst when i got the car. well, i will not cry over it, it's not
my style. have to just fix it. so, it was you at taipan, i was right behind
you looking for a place to eattt. but i was in my ex's kenari. yup, she
had to drive me around since i am crippled already. by the way, how
come your exhaust is silent instead of giving out sounds like the
normal straight piping japaneez style? best la. so, your fiancee in ivoli
huh? that's just opposite my office, tu bukan enterprise 4 le, 3.
anyway, my car is always parked by the road side. ou see a bravo
with monte carlo 17 slammed in, that's me. so do ou send her to
work daily? and may i know her name? mana tahu terserempak ke,
boleh le tanya pasal kau. hehe.

my friend's bravo gt also same, overheat like crazy had to change head
gasket, skim head and basically top overhaul.. cost him rm 600.00 at
worldtech. he bought 555 plate number car (red, abarth body kit, recaro
seat, 17" roh wheels, novitec exhaust). the car was excellent on the
previous owner's hand but after he got his r33 he left the car at the
glenmarie fiat/alfa workshop, the car was practically thrashed.

upon receiving the car i inspected and it had scracthes on the paint work,
the rear view mirror patah, rims had scratches, tires were wrong sizes
(205/40/17) should be 215/40/17, cv joint boot koyak, needs new pads and
front disk, tensioner bearing jammed, and now needs a top overhaul and new
head gasket.

after the engine head was dismanttle i found that the head was already
skimmed twice, so i guess either the previous owner did a port and polish
or it was overheating before. the amount of sludge in the engine was
amazing, like black tooth paste everywhere.

My Bravo overheated once, and it was all caused by a tiny problem: the
radiator fan's fuse.

RM600.00 to top overhaul at WorldTech? Are you sure, Clover_F? Sounds
cheap.

Buat sendiri lagi murah! RM320 ajer ...harga top overhaul gasket complete
set... aku beli dekat jln Ipoh. Kalau tukar gasket ajer RM120.00 beli kat
Jln Kuching. Valve seal tak payah tukar, pakai balik ajer! Ikut kehendak
kite ler kalau buat sendiri! Kalau kau nak tahu...tukar timing belt Fiat
100 kali senang dari tukar timing belt keta proton...eh temberang kot?

workshop you're talking about? and what do you mean by the car
being thrashed. was it by the mechanics or has it been thrashed
even before it reached there? just wanna know.

I have changed the top gasket once but nothing doing with overheating at
Torino JB. The engine top gasket and spark plug gasket costs RM90.00
(parts only). I have once a leak radiator due to a plastic stuck in
between the radiator fan hub and the radiator itself.

I noticed it because a slight increase in water temp. But if driving fast,
the temp will drop. When stuck in a jam it will increase but not
drasticly.

Mine is a 1.8 engine but not the same case with a 1.6 engine. A 1.6
engine, once you have a water problem, the temp will increase constantly,
either you stuck in a jam or driving fast (correct me if I'm wrong).

Subs, as per your case, your water temp. shoots up drasticly, right? It
could be something that stopping the water from cycling.

Subs, ada satu mamat Singapore AR146 1.6TS sudah port & polish. Increase
in powerband especially from 4,000RPM till the redline. I think that
should be your next project!!! Satu lagi, MatSpeed boleh reprofile kita
punya cams

Thanks,

syed, when i saw the thermostat, it was jammed, thus preventing water from
flowing right? well, the damage's been done. anyway, syed, i am truly
interested in the port and polish thingy. aku memang nak buat pun, tapi
takut senang overheat la, dinding nipis. but really, i think i should go
ahead with that. and then about the cam reprofiling, kau sure ke matspeed
boleh buat? kalau tak reprofile, i mean design another cam for us
brava/bravo owners? anything happens, boleh turn back to the originals.
bila kau nak buat? aku nak jugak tengok performance.

Paul from Singapore AR75 2.0TS RWD, said that, if you can get a spare cam
head (lets say from a chop shop), then they (the tuner) can estimate the
thickness of the wall by cutting it. Dia kalau nipis sangat air masuk
dalam engine dan overheat-lah. Sebab itu kena ada spare cam head untuk
mereka potong separuh dan dapat exact measurement.

Matspeed reprofile cam using your original unit. Tapi shouldn't be a
problem. My cousin driving a AR155 1.8TS did it. Engine tak goyang. Tapi
power beb. Kalau nak turun balik ke ori, beli lah 2nd unit dan simpan yang
asal.

Thanks,

syed, menarik gila tu babe. aku pasal nak tune tune ni memang minat. i
think i'g go for reprofiling first la. your cousin punya 155b tu bikin kat
matspeed shah alam ke? and how long did it take? the whole day or more?
and about the porting and polishing, well interested too but till i get
myself some spares, then i'd forego. but that's temporary la. hehe, gonna
go max with my bravo.

and syed, by the way, how much did he do it for at matspeed? and matspeed
also can do port and polish to our bravo/brava right?
