I owned a 2007 2.4V, average about 8-9km/l. I have a friend driving 2010 2.0G, his fuel consumption is about the same with me. He told he is because of the power/load of the car.

He regret getting 2.0. By all means if you felt 2.4 road tax is ok, then go for it.

maybe ur fren is a little heavy footed? as for me, i get 8-9km/L too when i drive in small towns and i rev a little most of the time. when im disciplined, it will be around 10km/L in small towns. but when i go outstation and long distances, i managed 12km/L with high speeds like 140-160km/h. when im at 110km/h most of the time, i could get more than 13km/L with my ACV31, 2.0E 2006. your 2.4V could do better with the 5th gear in long distances even at 140km/h constantly.

I do agreed that Toyota is leading in term of FC.
But Korean car is catching up now in term of power and FC.

Civic 2.0, can get 8-9KM/L
Hyundai Avante X20, can get 10-11KM/L
Cost diff between this two is around rm30K.
Think about it again, it always good to choose those 2nd car with valid warranty.
