normally for single digit starts from 10k.. im not sure whats the avg 8 can go for. Ive got the old list but its somewhere i need to dig out from my HDD. Try google?

i remember that Trengganu plat number 'TAH 1' were bidded at RM210k...

also i saw that Penang 'PJP 1' were bidded at RM58k while i was at JPJ....

so 8 starts from RM10k thru bidding only unless u are some vvvvvvip then should be free(i think)..

Just have to try luck. If at that time more apply price high.

if u go to the JPJ website their price is

1. Nombor Bernilai Utama RM10,000
2. Nombor Menarik RM 2,000
3. Nombor Popular RM 300
4. Nombor Semasa RM 300

for 1 & 2, u will need to bid(the only choice i think).

for '3. nombor popular'(which is the one i got), no runners is allowed & for that kind of number u need to bid(first choice) or wait till it is open to public to buy(if nobody bid that particular # first). Nombor popular is like 8833, 'nombor semasa' is normal number which u can walk in to buy anytime......

nombor popular will need an extra 'procedure' which is wait for the big day, q-up & meet the JPJ officer to pick what is left on his list....worth it since picking normal number also RM310.. but runners can do that for u....

When my friend bought last November, number being sold is 1xxx, but he wants 6xxx, JPJ charge him RM310.
When I got mine, number being sold was 4xxx. I too wanted 6xxx, but the number I wanted was taken and so was a few other substitute numbers too. Finally settle for one but JPJ charge RM210 only.....

Number taken was 6xxx, that is why my friend also surprised why JPJ charge RM210 only....

Got the following info.

RJ8 - 59K
RH8 - 89K

Seems to me its not that cheap after all. Even more expensive then Johor or Malacca

As far as I know, any single digit number, if available during the respective alphabet run/rotation, is never cheap.

But probably, when Perlis vehicle plate hits RM (in the year 2012, 2013?), perhaps RM8 would be cheap...coz strictly, you should only be paying 8 Ringgit Malaysia for it
