Greetings Fiat kakis,

On behalf of a family member, I'd like to inquire regarding the ECU of
this 1997 model.

The car has some injector problems - loss of power (no shut downs yet).
Sent it to Hasni Auto (Jln Genting Klang) and they sent the car to Torino
for a diagnose.

Verdict - error deleted but ECU remains problematic. Guesstimate up to 6
months can tahan. After repair, no (almost) hiccups yet...so far.

Anybody here who had similar experience? Please share and advise.

Thank you folks.

Cheers.

if the ignition coils, do check on your exhaust fumes, if it smelss
unusual, like too much petrol smell, then it is the coils.

Greetings,

Thank you folks.

Btw, any other workshop (apart from Torino Auto) to recommend in the
Klang Vallley? Preferably not far from Batu Caves, Gombak, Setapak, Ulu
Klang area.

Thanks again.

Cheers

dude, there's one near batu caves - din auto. my friend sent his Bravo
there for repairs and i see that the charges are quite reasonable. exact
location i am not too sure. i will try to get more info on the location
and i will let you know.

maybe you'd like to check with our DIY man Chekaicar. he drivers to same
model as you do. probably he'd be able to shed some light on this.

Greetings,

Guess I better cerita sikit about the problem.

1st sign of problem (injector was when cruising on highway. Just a brief
loss of power (lights on) and it went back to normal.

After that sent to Hasni Auto to cuci the "butterfly" (dunno what it is).
Other things that was rectified was the gearbox switch (tukar recond) and
the repair alternator (been overcharging for some time). Can spoil ECU
kalu ada extra electricity aaa?
(I skip some minor things/repairs here.)

When the injector light lighting one became more frequent and longer,
Hasni sent the car to Torino for ECU correction.

LIke I said earlier, error deleted but they said ECU will hafta be
changed eventually.
Question: If the ignition coil was the culprit, didn't it figured out
during the computer diagnosis?

I had a drive of the car today. The injector played up again. 1st time
about 5-10 seconds. Later on it happened again and this time much longer.
Had to limp back (without a-cond to get extra power). This went off & on
fer a bout 5-10 minutes. Last 5 minutes b4 shutting engine (at the
apartment), it was okay.

There was quite a strong smell...not pure petrol but sumthing chemical
like.

If anybody with similar exp, please advise. Hopefully it is just the
ignition coil. Btw, how much would it cost?

Hopefully we would be able to go to Din Auto tomorrow. Ada contact number
ka?

Thanks a lot folks. Your contribution is very much appreciated. Hopefully
the family member would not be put off by the car, namely the marque FIAT.

It's a fine car apart from those hiccups and I do enjoy driving
it...albeit a little underpowered. (Hey, if one wanna lotsa power, get a
ferrari or the likes).

Have a nice day.
Cheers

Bumibersih,

First of all your ECU is okay.!!!! ( as far as I know, if ECU is okay,
then its okay la...no such thing as boleh tahan lagi 6 enam bulan or what)

Secondly dont just simply tukar the parts lor!!!! You can diagnose
manually the sensors or actuators. I have the readings/specification of
the sensors & actuators by using digital meter/ohm meter. As for your
case...
1. Check lamda sensor
- heater resistance = 4.3 ohm to 4.7 ohm
- probe resistance = 5 kilo ohm (max)
2. Ignition coil
- primary resistance 0.55 ohm to 0.61 ohm at 23 deg cel
- secondary winding 8,645 to 9,555 ohm at 23 deg cel
3. Your fuel filter sudah tukar ka???
4. Fuel injector sudah check/clean ka!!! Kalau injector kotor...Fiat lansa
tester tak dapat diagnose the kotor maa!
5. Check also the earthing to the Ecu & the earthing to the engine block &
check the voltage as well.
6. Then kalau rajin check other sensor such as throtte valve position
sensor, intake air position sensor,& absolute pressure sensor & pressure
regulator.

Kalau minat I can provide the infor of the sensor & actuator at the
gearbox as well.....just an opinion good luck.

Johan,

Kata nak datang rumah aku...lepas tu senyap ajer????/

Greetings,

Wah Chekai, I know nuts about the things you mentioned. Can you repair
the car aaa? If you're willing, I'll give you my hp #.

Btw, a general question. For that Marea model (1997, 1.6 auto), would it
be ok or advisable to use it for day-to-day commuter, hence trapped
regularly in jams?

Cheers
