I'm also interested in getting a used kembara & convert to 2WD. I visited kembaranautica.com but cannot find any topic in 2WD conversion, topic grouping also very limited to mostly club activities and no "maintenance / modification". My bro did convert to 2WD few years back at some w/shop but end up ruining the whole gearbox and have to dump the car.

Not sure if it is the same, but my VR4 came as 4WD. Since it is only front half cut, we do not get the rear part therefore no long shaft, rear suspension, petrol tank and rear setup. So end up as 2WD. They just weld up the gear for the rear inside the gearbox.....

another thought, maybe just put in avanza tranny & gbx since engine is same, possible? I don't have any confidence on any modifications on gearbox...
