Lets say you are driving at a "slow" speed of 80km/h at a "safe" distance and its raining heavily and suddenly the car in front applies its brakes.
You can brake hard (you have ABS) but if you can't stop in time because you are too close, you have to avoid, if you have no ESP chances are your car will spin out of control.

If everyone thinks like you then don't need seat belts, air-bags, ABS etc, why do you need any of these if you are driving a "slow" car?
Twenty years ago got no such right, then again how many cars were on the road twenty years ago.
There is no such thing as "don't need" when it comes to car safety.
By 2012 all new cars in Malaysia are now expected to have at least one air-bag while in Australia from this year all cars must have ESP aka VSC, ASC etc.

sometimes ABS increases the braking distance...

BUT the main point of ABS is so that you CAN STILL STEER the car under maximum braking force so that you can avoid the obstacle...

good to have BUT
ABS/ESP/EBD/TCS/VSC/KFC/MCB/TUV/KNS/DNS/CCB/CCM do not give you godlike braking or cornering or accident/collision avoidance system... if you overdo it all those still cannot fight the law of physics...

True, ABS braking distance for dry is further, but it is in the wet when you need it....... smile_thumbup.gif
