But I hope that this car is built differently, very much on metal joining, chassis strengthening on monocoque, not very much on installing after market parts...

because...

if it is all about using after market parts, then everyone can buy one normal Neo and source for parts to put in, probably spending less than RM54K. If this is the case, this model will lose its exclusivity... bad for marketing Proton brand...


The inside scoop on this I heard is that this was not of Proton in house creation or development. But instead by EON. They bypassed Proton and went to Lotus directly to have the car spruced up. So who knows how much development and research went into it ??

by the way..since most of people accusing 115k pricetag was a bit on the high-side…i’ll try to justify to compare the money of average joe can buy actual same product installed on that neo…

first…appearance…
*complete fiberglass bodykit::rm200 front bumper+rm200 rear bumper+rm200 *skirting+rm200 for spoiler+rm100 arch vent
*manic 2k paintjob::rm2k inside out
*spotrim (from R3 must be from advanti racing)::rm2k-rm4k
*4unit of tyre::rm800×4::rm3200
*real carbon fiber bonnet:rm2k

second…handling parts
*ap racing complete set caliper+disc+abs+ebd controller::rm25k
*ohlins sports suspension kit::rm12k (short stroke damper+custom spring rate)
*uprated anti-roll bar:: rm800 (if u can bargain with ultra racing guys for front and rear setup)

third part….engine performance upgrade…
*a pair of re-profiled camshaft::rm1200 cheapest u can get (matspeed ot powerzone)
*complete set lightweight alloy pulleys with adjustable camgear::rm400(no brand cap ayam)
*4-2-1 stock macam bukit exhaust manifold:rm200 (cheapest) <<R3 was from titanium
*exhaust complete system::rm180
*carbon fiber air-intake+ORIGINAL K&N filter::might go up close to RM2k
*re-chipped ECU::rm1000 (+dyno tuned)
*judging from the printed topspeed shows this car might use closer final drive::cost n/a

that's where u ended up to pay more rm2000 compared to the LIMITED EDITION and the ORIGINAL CAR with ORIGINAL PARTS…

at ahbeng u will never know what sorts of quality part installed especially that fiberglass bodykit….


errmmm..i know most of u was in this market...so might got lower price for the exact same parts??except that ohlins that was orderd and tune specific to neo by lotus hand???....

If the Ohlins are custom made (or special order or whatever),is it easy to find a replacement set if the current one kong?Just wondering....

btw....i quite assured that premium ohlins sets was a fully serviceable unit...where u can service and keep it well maintained by proper man as long as the car's lifetime.... rolleyes.gif
