The engine noise is still as noisy as it is even at revs 3k-4k rpms. It seems like Toyota can't do anything with it. The NVH of the car is still not very good. Even a Myvi engine noise is less noise than the Vios during revving. I can't rev the car all the way to 6krpm because the sales advisor with me is a lady & she's pregnant. She didn't put on the safety belt so i don't want to take the risk. For the price of 92k for a 1.5litre car is nothing special. I must well add additional 9k to go for Altis 1.6. At least the NVH,ride, comfort, style & level more better than Vios.

The thing i admire in the Vios is the Audi like steering which the bottom of the steering is flat & the EPS. smile_thumbup.gif It is so light when the car is stationary. When making a U-turn, it just use 2 road to do a U-turn whereas other cars take 2.5-3 road to do it. This means it has a small turning radius.

i must agree on the poor NVH of vios. persona has better insulation, almost similar to altis 1.6 at 102K. the way i see it... this vios received only mere cosmetic changes and UMWT can do better than this actually.

but vios is a city car which explains why it has super light steering wheel, small turning radius, 4 speed instead of 5 speeder auto and perhaps.. lack of insulation.

you want more, then pay more---> the altis range is waiting. good marketing strategies.

Korean cars & practically all things korean are crap.
Been `conned' by korean products.

Go get yourself a korean product & you will know what I mean.
You will echo my comment & sentiment after using a korean car/product

Now I wouldn't touch a korean car.

they were saying the same thing in 2002 with the new Sonata then, the Elantra and Matrix. but somehow, it did not happen.

in order for a brand to stay at top level its not only about giving a good specced car rather than gimmicks. The Koreans have done that before. Sonata selling at 120K to compete with 120K Altis.

but now the same sonata 2.0/2.4 are selling between 27-28K while altis 1.6/1.8 are fetching prices between 55-66K. see the differences?

the korean makes need to give more than cheap cars with high specs - citra rondo is one very good example. it does not sell well (compare to Citra) even though at 85K comes with twin airbags, ABS, sunroof, dual air-cond, VVTI with timing chain engine and other niceties.

The older batch in 2002, 2003 Korean cars were still not on par with Japs make at that time. It is wrong to use that batch for comparison. Today's new & coming soon batches, the Koreans are packed with quality with superior engine and gearbox and are made more affordable to everyone. Best is to pay salesman to get 100% complete test drive or rent a car to try out everything from loaded with 5 passengers with fastened seat belts testing its comfort, space, and pulling power with loaded cargo, FC with RM10 till finish and handling at isolated roads. Always test cars with maximum number of passengers.

Those who bashed Korean cars blindly, please DIY extreme test drive to compare :

1) Sonata YF & Optima 2010 (coming soon) vs Camry vs Accord
2) Forte 2.0 vs Altis 1.8/2.0 vs Civic 1.8/2.0 vs Sylphy 2.0
3) Forte 1.6 & Hyundai Verna 1.6 vs Altis 1.6 vs Vios 1.5 vs City 1.5 vs Latio 1.6
4) Hyundai Tucson & Kia Sportage '10 (coming soon) vs CRV vs X-Trail

Then post your results only after you have done such test with 5 passengers on board seat belts buckled and driven for more than 20 minutes.

Anyone got request to add in more feature when booking the new vios? For example, request to change the player to become DVD player like this below:

http://www.tradersci...th-ipod-112598/

I ask Toyota sales man last time, I think he misunderstood because he though I want to change the player to become dvd player then will void the warranty. I actually ask is to change the player to become the new dvd player specially design for Vios before I get the new car. Can I request during booking car?

My friend has booked the Vios and he told me that that is an option to add more facilities including Aux input, is that true?

Aiyoo... then no more fun in the music as no Aux at all, how to enjoy my fan using ipod during driving wo. Honda City already over price and Ford Fiesta don't have the spec I want actually not because my financial budget. The only option is Vios, overall I like it on G spec, especially got leather seat some more. Just a player part a bit disappointing. Even read CD also a little bit songs only, not like ipod you can store 1GB, 2GB songs.

May I know does the Vios G spec radio can keep some MP3 file from the CD, so I can listen MP3 without the CD?

Yes, using wet cell FURUKAWA battery. Just changed mine after 65k km.

puzzlevios,

MY VIOS OBSERVATIONS:

Old vs Dugong

I have the pre-fl, and what i think is that the NVH can be improved, and although it does not perform like a sports car and it is neither well insulated, the car does a fantastic job as a city driver, i use one for daily commute to work, and it does his job well.
Very easy to manouvre in tight spaces, park, and is as economical as the old one which my friend has. There are differences though in the engine bay, such as the redesigned air intake and manifold, EPS and all come standard with ABS and brake assist.

The improvement in acceleration can be noticed in a drag with the old vios.
The acceleration is actually meant to help the new vios cope with the added bodyweight over the new model and makes for little more brisk city driving. There is a trade off, engine speed is about 3.2k rpm @120km/h as opposed to the old vios's 3k rpm @ 120km/h

Dugong FL vs Dugong

There are slight improvements to the quality of the interior, fit and finish of the dashboard V-panels, softer switchgear for the A/C controls. A nicer steering, especially the flat bottom and horn area. Better specs for each variant.

I do agree however that it's new rivals have much better NVH and kit count, but at the end of the day, the resale value
will still be there even after 5/6 years. Till the day the used car lots rate the competition, i'll stick to the the not so cold brands. smile_tongue.gif

Disclaimer:
I do like the Forte, Ford Fiesta Hatchback, Sonata & new Optima. smile_thumbup.gif
