If you don't have free service voucher and mind to drive over to the Island, you might want to give Kah Bintang (authorized service center) a try - it is at Sungai Pinang, behind Honda Showroom/service center.
Hyundai Prai (under Sime Darby) is charging RM70 per hour, and 3.5 hours is quoted for 60k service . i.e. ~ RM245 just for labour charge! For Kah Bintang @ Sg Pinang, labour charge for regular service is only RM10, major service is quite cheap as well, RM65 for my Sonata NF 60k km major service early this month. They even spent > 1 hour to replace my blown 3rd brake light for RM7 (read from US forum, it's very difficult to replace the bulb for 3rd brake light - not their competency issue)
P/S : I don't work for Kah Bintang, had my car serviced at Kah Bintang, and accident repairs done at Hyundai Prai, so able to compare the workmanship and quality of the work.
Thanks for the info. I'll definitely go to Penang service centre (Sg. Pinang) after the first 2 free service. :-)
I wonder if the "SD" logo will affect on the quality service provided by KB?
Just wondering...

Hi Everyone,
I have just owned a Hyundai Avante and found a number of troubling problem which should be posted to all in c ase it might be overlooked from your end.
The list of problem may be from low to reasonable subject to your interpretation as per below's list;
A. Items that have been complained, acknowledged by your end and awaiting for parts replacement.
i. Door rubber / weather strip for driver side seems to be worn (tear is seen) / rear right door is seen to be slightly
expanded due to some expansion - it is also noticed to be nearly similar to above item - Service advisor
recommends replacement of all weather strips ( they use another term for the weather strip)
ii. Boot (rear bonnet) which consists of 2 reflectors and reverse light segments is found to be cracking abnormally
iii. Time / clock display (plastic) seems to be discoloured thus causing blurriness / unevenness on the clock panel.
iv. Leather seat on driver's side seems to have black spots (refer attached picture 12052011653.jpg)
v. water seeping into the car from rear left triangle mirror ( to be opened and siliconed)
vi. Leather seat at rear is found to be cracking while the front seat (driver)is having balck spots and for the front
passenger's seat- the stitch (thread) is balck in colour while the whole car is having biege stitch (thread)
vii. Both rear windows were loose (retightened after complain).
viii. Tyre is currently old (dated 2008) however car was manufactured and registered on Oct. 2010 - requested for
replacement - pending their discussion
There are a number of items which requires attention from the service team but due to my current need of using the car for work purpose seems to delay the repairs at the moment (apart from order period for defected items which have been agreed to be replaced).
Anyway there are other items which are not included in this post as it was more of seller's obligation to fulfill rather than defect.
Look forward in hearing from other forumer's with regards to other problems which have not been highlighted yet.
But as mentioned by various forumers here, there car is indeed a good car to drive (apart from the floating effect) and fueld consumption seems to be reasonable (better than my previous ride- maybe this is a new car - need to monitor!).
Happy driving
Kelvin
FYI, I did complain on rusty part too. What Salesperson claimed is "Like That Lor". So pissed off when you heard that!
Did send for warranty claim.
They did some "cleaning", yet rusty part is still visible but not so obvious.
Tire also from year 2008, but i give up complaining to them.
Too tired lar...
Give and take lor...

Just complete my 400km driving. 100% city drive (Penang island only)
Fuel = RM78 = 41.05 liter
FC = 41.05/400 = 9.74 liter/KM
= 78/400 = RM0.195/KM
