Hi Guys,

Never been worse after my second service at Torino Keramat. B4 second
service, my car was great, beside the funny noise from the gear box.
After my 3rd service, things happens. you know someting like X-Files!
Just a normal service, change engine oil etc. After that, each stop and
mornings, after the car been cool for 1 hour, when I start the car, then
engage the D, press the accelerator, the car jerks, something like, going
to stall. Then, after that it is fine, until you turn off the engine and
let it cool down for half on one hour. Then, it happens again. Now my car
also pings! I send back to Keramat 4 times, the claims from don't know,
no fault signal, engine not warm enough to spark plug gap widen, re-
gapped, still the same.

Does anyone in Torino knows how to trouble shoot a car?? Or ar they just
another workshop that just change engine oil, plugs and so forth. If it
is so, I suggest we all go to AAM, it is cheaper and the people there are
more well trained.

Does anyone of you guys have this irritating problems, I mean the car, we
can all forget Torino. I'm just greatful that they brought this wonderful
car in only per se.

I have some great news here, for those DIY fans, just found out from
Haynes UK, the official DIY manual for our Punto Speedgear will be
available this Autumn, (Sept 03) Check out the site www.haynes.com.uk
under FAQ column. With this out we can all stop the stupid answer we get
from Torino about our car.

For you infor, my car is still under the so call one year unlimited
warranty. Should I just forget about it and opt for 3rd party service
centre like HHK etc? Need some three cents advice.

Hi Simonlws,

Nice to hear from u again...How is your Falken going?..Is it noisier than
the original Michelin?...About the servicing, better try other
workshop...As for me, I will forget about the warranty if you need to send
in yr car so many time and nothing is done...I do have the jerking
problem, but only when I m away and not drive my punto for
sometimes...but, after I give it a run, is ok then...as berger said, 'fatt
mou' mah....for no driving for months...Smile

Hi Simonlws,

If I read your post correctly, my Speedgear has exactly the same symptom.
Every morning, or when engine is cold, once shift to 'D' and step on
accelerator, car jerks one time (as if no fuel is reaching the engine),
then moves smoothly after that.

I think it has to do with our car's fuel system, and I don't think it's a
problem at all.

However, if you also experience like engine is about to stall every time
you step on the brakes, then it could be like what Berger mentioned.
Somehow, our Speedgear's plug cables doesn't seem to last too long. Some
of us owners have changed our plug cables because they were found to be
faulty.

Anyway, if you want to live through the warranty period, perhaps you
should let Torino Shah Alam workshop have a look at the problem, rather
than the one at Keramat. Better still, insist Torino to test out with new
plug cables (since under warranty) and see if that solves the problem.

On the pinging problem, could be several reasons. First up is timing is
out, which is not usual, unless those 'mechanics' messed with the timing
during servicing.

It could also be the petrol you use, or more precisely, the petrol has
been 'mixed' with other substances like kerosene. Some unscrupulous petrol
kiosk do this to short-change motorist. It happened to me before years
ago. I never visited that petrol station again after that.

You should also visit www.fiatforum.com, post your question or find your
answers there. This site is visited mainly by the the other Fiat owners in
the world.

HI,

just for your info, Haynes manuals do not give you troubleshooting
problems in your car. They are more like how to disassemble and reassemble
the car -part by part.

Good Luck.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the comment and experince.

To Berger - I'm staying Kepong. Setapak is where my in law stays!

To Dao Dao - Hey. My Falken is great, tho' waering out pretty fast cause
it is soft. 100% or more better than the OEM tyres. I've tried out
Continental on another Punto(I wonder who's car)at Torino when I was
complaining on those problems. It was very quiet man! The tyres, of
course.

To Puntonian - Man! You read my mind! Do you really think it Punto fuel
system? If this is norm, then it's a relieve! But I can't wait for the
manual to arrive at our shore.

To KCLiew - I've own couple of those manual for my previous cars and they
do help you to troble shoot some problems. Of course they teach you how
to dismantle and assemble your car, that is what I wanted to know cause,
I when to Torino, asked them to help my remove the handle to wind down
the windows and they don't know how!! Speaking of professional! The
reason for the removal is I wanted to stick some of those Acoustics
Shields on the doors. I manage to do that with some advise from my
friends.

FYI, I've sound proof the car with Acoustic Shield on all four doors, the
front wheel panels, the boot door and the floor with the same materials.
Great sound reproduction! But, marginal help in insulation the road
noise. However, better than the original. "Ho Kor Mow"!! With these and
Falken, now I can help my passenger talks on the Highway!

Guys, thanks once again. It is great to know that there are friends out
there. Cherio! and did you know Punto face lift version is gonna out in
June 03? The present version looks better except for the new 3 spoke
streeing wheels, Climac control air-cond and 15" alloy wheels.

I agree with you that the mechanics at Torino are really a bunch of
morons. Apparently the President of the company, the Hamid guy is related
to Rafidah Aziz. So you know, they are not really interested in marketing
Fiats here; they just want to make big bucks by fleecing us.

The mechanics also steal parts from customers' cars not to mentioned their
own stores. No wonder they always don't have parts.

You better seek alternative workshops to be safe.

Simonlws,

Like I said, I don't think it's a problem at all.

Hey... so you stay in Kepong. I stay in Selayang, and every morning I use
the Kepong road to go to my workplace at KL. Jalan Kuching is just too jam
every morning.

So, if you see a Rosso Red Speedgear speeding along the road every
morning, then it's probably me. Smile

Occasionally, I would see a black Punto GT zipping in and out of traffic
at Jalan Kepong in the morning. I also sometimes see a silver Speedgear
along this road. Could that possibly be you ??

Next time you see a Speedgear along Jalan Kepong, give a honk and I will
do the same.

Smile
