i'm not alphard owner but i once saw an alphard in my mechanic's shop changing timing belt..... the mechanic told me alphard/estima 3.0 V6 using timing belt whereas 2.4 using timing chain....
better confirm on this since yours is 80K already...

bro,
Alphard, estima, ipsum & harrier they all sharing the same engine..if 2.4 using timing chain, but if 3.0 using timing belt...
All model with 2.4 engine selling like hot cake coz of timing chain and low road tax. ...definitely.
No harm using 2.4 engine, the engine pump 160 horse and 200kmph easily!

True... in fact i saw with my bare eyes that 3.0 V6 Toyota engine (Alphard, Estima) is using timing belt (there are 2 timing belts on that V6 engine from an Estima that doing an overhaul) at my usual workshop last time.

2.4l? with its torque, only "suit" camry lar, i never drove 2.4 alphard, but 3.0 V6 is really powerful in pickup. imagine the car fit in 10passenger, it's still manage to run like normal 2.0l car.
but 3.0V6 is running belt, need to change every 80k. and it's not cheap.
