Hi, after 4 months, yes 4 months! of attempting selling off my 2004 Airtrek Turbo, finally, I've brought home the S-Max today! I'm considered so lucky to sell off my 7 plus year old Airtrek (very low mileage and fantastic condition), the Indian buyer has been genuine, but very tough of getting his loan approved with good percentage, and finally, he got it.
I can't resist to write a little comments here about the Ford S-Max. Many have been commenting that the S-Max is overpriced and not worth, I personally think most of them is biased without finding out further, and because it is a Ford? Please think about it again. I've more than 10 years of experience with quite a number of cars, from continental to Japanese. Before deciding the S-Max, I've been digging and comparing for any medium sized MPVs. Most Japanese MPVs I've tried were not bad, but when comparing to S-Max and even the Peugeot 5008, personally I'm so killed with the technology and performance with the S-Max and 5008, they are really continental, but I personally find 5008 is still quite far to catch up with S-Max in many way, I'[m not going into detail though. The S-Max even put the Mazda 8 to huge shame (my personal finding). Technologically, S-Max is far advanced than any MPVs in the market. It is extremely solidly built, extremely safe (to Euro Ncap standard, the engine and the transmission are a dream to have (it is a 7 seater VW Golf GTi!), the chassis is very very nimble given that it is a 7 seater, comfortable, the chasis feels entirely just as good as many premium continental brands which Japanese MPV will hardly achieve.
I really can't care much despite the very poor market value of Ford cars locally, man, this MPV is amazing to me. It feels so premium in just any senses out of it. I'm very surprised too the audio system is so refined and balanced sounding, everything from stock speakers.
And finally, the engine and the transmission, my oh my, I don't even have to rev hard, the whole car is so smooth and so urging whenever the rpm reach 2500 to 3200 range, this car does not need to rev high at all, I've yet trying it in "reckless" manner, it must be very very fast for a 7 seater! The car can easily reach 130km with very normal driving mood. And it is so comfortable, supple, and the perceived speed is a lot slower than it actually is, in another word, very stable.
I personally find that I'm driving a very premium continental car which is quite a lot more expensive than RM188k, of course this is my personally opinion. I love it! Ever since I've been keeping an eye with it before it is even available to test drive it. To any car enthusiasts, I don't really have to say much, by looking at its specs data alone, this car is amazing enough for a 7 seater.
And last but not least, I strongly recommend at Ford head quarter along Federal Highway, look for Linna, she is an old lady, very kind and helpful Ford sale person. S-Max is my second purchase after Ford Ranger, but it is a real coincident am getting 2 Ford in a roll, I'm not Ford fan in anyway
