Both the sedan and coupe variants are launched simultaneously, and here are some of the stories we wrote on them when they made their world debuts:
- Autoworld Blog >> Blog Archive >> W212 Mercedes-Benz E-class
- Autoworld Blog >> Blog Archive >> Mercedes follows up E-class sedan with Coupe
For our market.. the variants released are as follows
- E300 Avantgarde sedan (CKD): RM455,888
- E250 CGI Coupe (CBU): RM485,888
- E350 Coupe (CBU): RM666,888
*all prices OTR w/o Insurance
Mercedes people noted to us that the 250 CGI direct injection system has been specially tuned to suit our local fuel content, whereas the 6-cylinder versions will come without CGI, unlike Europe. The reason is that they have yet to tune the V6 CGI units to suit local fuel.
They will soon be following up with the E200 and E250 sedans, both CKD.

Not yet, though there's unconfirmed word that a media drive will be organized come Jan.

No worries, I already helped you to 'goreng' the bosses during the media Q&A.
The E200 and E250 sedans will be arriving, in the words of the Mercedes ppl, "sooner than you think".
They did not commit to any dates

Wah, you best

They are telling me Jan/Feb, so I reckon "sooner than you think" means end December? Problem will be that buyers will want a 2010 car whereas I was told that even January 2010 deliveries might be 2009 made. That could mean RM30k less in the used car market in a few years as compared to a 2010 made car. I hope they resolve that issue for us consumers.
I heard several E300 buyers already postponed due to year end coming. They want 2010 made cars.

Early birds are likely to get 2009 cars, as Mercedes have already been assembling the W212 for a couple of months in Pekan already. This is what happens to cars that are launched at the end of the year.
Especially for models that are expected to sell well, and I have no doubts the W212 will, the manufacturers would have begun amassing their stocks before launching in order to cope with the initial surge in demand. This is a lesson Perodua learned the hard way with the Myvi, as the demand was so great, it caught even them off guard, and threw their production schedules completely out of whack.
If second hand value is really that much of a concern to you, you will need to wait for a while.

That is cheating the customer as resale will be very different.
CCB JB already have a few E300 customers who will not accept their cars in Nov 2009 because they are 2009 cars. Does that mean they now have to wait until April 2010?
In that case, I want my car either in December 2009 or April 2010, not in between or they give discount. Grrrr......
