quitting your job to be a full fledged Traffic employee eh? looks too good
to be true. but nevertheless good luck. i am still waiting for my
opportunity to join them (with your help of course) as i am pretty much
finished with the F&B industry in kl. so when la?!!!!Blush

i reckon the TT session could be done on a saturday so that everyone could
join in for the buka puasa thingy. lets not restrict the attendance to
certain makes of fiat ler. as long as you own a fiat, you are welcome to
join the session and regardless of whether you are a muslim or non-muslim,
it does not matter (i myself dunno what i am anyway!).

so any suggestion on a good place to gather beramai-ramai ( besides Safiz
please! )

remember, open to all fiat owners - 124S/ST,130/131 Super/Mirafiori/Abarth
Racing, Bravo, Brava, Marea, Punto, Coupe etc

Hi people,

I've got a friend who owns a Bravo. Recently she had a run with bad luck.
Last week it was a punctured tyre. Yesterday, a different tyre burst
(luckily not driving fast). Then, to make matters worse, the auto-assist
guy came over and spent 1.5 hours trying to change one tyre.

This is the problem: The rim was stuck. All screws out and the guy just
can't get it out. My friend said it was because of a washer installed on
the rim. Finally, the guy gets it out and tries to put on the spare.
Wonders of wonders, the threads on the screws and the ones on the knuckle
are mostly stripped. He managed only 2 screws and we drove it back to a
friend's house which was nearby.

The car is now at a workshop. The mechanic says the thread stripped
because the screws were not screwed in properly. The reason the rim was so
difficult to pull out was that the washer/spacer thingie got rusty. He
recommended changing the whole knuckle because the internal threads for
the screws are stripped.

Alternatively, he said he can try to source for a 'potong' knuckle, or try
to drilling the threads back or modify the knuckle like the japanese
knuckles i.e. screws on the knuckles and nuts on the rims.

So, my question is:
1) Does original Fiat rims require washers/spacers to fit the knuckle?
2) If the washers are normal, do you have problems of the rim getting
stuck, when changing tyres? If you do, any practical method of getting it
unstuck?
3) Are there original Fiat rims manufactured in Taiwan? (My friend's rim
has "Taiwan" on it)
4) What do you think about the solutions suggested by the mechanic?
Workable? Acceptable?
5) How much would it cost to get a new knuckle? (My friend may need to
replace all 4)

Sorry for the long post. But I believe that there's no better source of
information than owners of the same car.

Thanks in advance.

1. No
2. The washers are called spacers and normally they don't belong there.
3. No
4. The solutions are temporary measure. Get original Fiat rims or Italian
makes meant for Fiat. Their PCD are 4x98.
5. No idea

Good Luck.

couldn't agree more with gurjit there. you see, the sole reason why
the washers are there are due to the taiwanese rims. taiwanese rims
bear the pcd of 100, therefore washers are needed to git it fitted in.
and sadly, it's wrongfully done and your friend has to bear the
consequences. these are some of the culprits that give bad name to
bravo or fiats.

Thanks Gurjit and Subsonique. That means my friend has been conned cos she
was told by the shop who sold the rims that the rims were Fiat originals.

The friend is already sourcing for original Fiat rims now to replace the
current ones. One of the things I asked earlier is the modification of the
knuckle i.e. instead of using screws to bolt in the tyres, reverse the
whole thing so that nuts will be used.

I wonder if that will be a problem if she reverts to original Fiat rims.

Thanks again. I'll check the previous postings for shops supplying Fiat
rims.
