Bro. tiger,
Burning hydrogen in open air is no problem. The hydrogen which is confine inside the battery will make the battery explode.
Not to say it will explode like a bomb, but explode spilling acid all over and at the same time you will have to replace the battery with a new one. You also have to clean the engine compartment fast, if not the acid will corrode the metal...
I use to work in a battery manufacturing plant for a couple of years and have seen all types of exploded batteries.....
If the safety seal or cover is gone, you won't want to use it unless you are silly. Explosion can be caused by rapid build up of hydrogen gas when the battery safety vent couldn't handle. This happens on short circuit and over voltage on charging. In normal conditions, this will not happen.

Normal condition is no problem. But jump start is not normal.
Joining +ve to +ve, and then -ve to -ve, the last connection will create a spark. This
MAY explode the battery.
That is why it is not recommended to connect the last part to the battery, but to any metal part of the car away from the battery.....

In case you create a spark and explode the battery.......
Same goes when jump starting another car.
Positive to positive, then negative to any part of car body away from the battery....
there is a risk of frying the ecu or other electrnics parts...

Heard something about this for some Conti cars, but not sure......

No risk unless you are silly to connect a wrong type of battery or wrong polarity. Or the alternator is damaged and delivering unregulated voltage into your electricals!

different acc shops carry different things (brands/models and prices too)... so tot wanna to zoom into or shortlist (if recommended) few units for consideration rather than running around asking few acc shops.
