Hi Multipla,

How much you pay for the service and how much for every maintenance
visits?

Also, how u wash your car? just plain water and cannot use the detergent??

Thanks.

Thing about this is, some may delight in detailing their cars themselves
& thats great. On the other hand, detailers like Shine & Shield tend to
do a good job as well, esp for people like me who can't seem to find the
time to polish & wax my cars. Once the car is done, it looks superb. A
caveat though, if you think its a be all & end all kind of treatment, you
may not like it after some time. The reasons may be simply that you LIKE
to work on your car or that you feel the water doesn't bead well after 3
months (& you use this as an indicator that your paintwork is well
protected).

I've had my red car done 11 months ago. Sure it doesn't bead as much
anymore. The car is parked in the sun daily, exposed to the elements. But
hey, it still looks good, bearing in mind that red paint pigments don't
last well. The paintwork may not be as smooth as the first day they did
the car, but I feel that its rather well protected. I don't have tar
marks on my skirts after almost a year, bugs come off with a rinse, etc.

A few weeks ago, I sent it for "cleaning" that they charge $80.00 for &
the red car ended up looking just like it did 11 months ago....almost
flawless with minimal swirl marks. Some were still there since it was
only "cleaning" so no levelling compound was used and the fact that I do
get the odd jerk leaning on the car wearing jeans & such. I like the fact
that the red is still deep, as is the gloss which looked locked in.

On washing, you can use plain water, but sometimes, if you're like me,
itch to use some foamy stuff, go get a pH balanced, good quality shampoo.
Its all explained on their site.

Cost depends on the condition & size of the car and can range from an
average of 600 to 800 or more. They have to see the car first.
Maintenance is approx 80. Their car was is 12 and 1 thing I like about
the way they wash your car is that they NEVER wash it while it's hot.
Bonnet up to cool the paint surface 1st & this minimises quick drying
that may leave streaks.

Have a look at the cars that they do 1st if you're apprehensive or simply
want to know more. You'll get a better picture than you can here, seeing
the process "live", so to speak. I've already done 3 cars there. ANd I'm
fussy too.

Hi clsiluf,

I do understand as well as DIY is good as I put all the effort, time into
cleaning the car, the outcome will give us the ummpph... but sometime
feels wasting time when the next week when washing the car, the wax seems
gone. So not sure if spending the $ and DIY is worth..

Unless we know how really to keep the shines and protection for at least
few months.

Hey aaron,

I spent RM800 for the job and about RM100-RM120 (i forgot) for maintainence
job.

Evrything is like what mike said...exactly!

My car is also reddish hue.

I have another car which is pearl white, the coating don't seem to last
very long on this one though. I had it redone(maintainence) after 10 months
and it didn't last that long until I have to do it again after 4 months
(just before CNY). It is really flawless on my first car (until today). But
it's not happenning to this one. I wonder why?

multipla, for some reason a number of white cars don't seem to last long
after PPS. By that I mean the apparent shine or gloss on them as opposed
to darker coloured cars. Thats what I observed anyway. Time to talk to
Raymond?
