Just to add my experience with oil additives.
Had tried X1R and Revo with no effect at all. Now I'm using Motor UP 420 and it works for me. My engine had mechanical noise during cold startup and after adding the additive, the noise is much lesser. Engine revs easier and is smoother throughout the rev range. Had just dyno my engine and there was a slight increase in hp and torque.
Fuel additives, I've tried 3M fuel injector cleaner for routine preventive maintenance but had stopped using it for quite a while. When RON97 became too expensive, switching to RON95 caused some knocking and I tried using Lucas Octane Booster to compensate. Later, I changed to BHP petrol and didn't need to add any additives.
