This is comparing the normal N/A M3 2.0 sport vs Civic 2.0 (or FD2)..not the type R version or mazdaspeed leh

The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion...........

I think Civic Type R is for race mode, so we are talking about Mazda3 sport vs Civic Type R

Don't play2 civic type R is pretty competitive vs Mazda3 Sport.

You might not happy but i think have to clarify this; both are not equal in terms of power output (225hp type r vs 145hp mazda 3) & suspension setup (track ready & street use)! smile_blackeye.gif

let's put back the same category for Civic (FD2) Vs Mazda 3 (2.0 sport)! smile_sleepy.gif

yeah that what I trying to pointed out. It would be more relevant putting Mazda 3 2liter vs Civic 2literFD2 rather than CTR FD2R vs mazda 3 2liter. smile_cool.gif

On paper by manufacturer...

Mazdaspeed 3 = 263 hp/280 lb-ft (2.3turbo)
Civic FD2R = 225hp/215Nm (2.0NA)

Mazda3 Sport = 145hp/182Nm
Civic FD2 = 155/188Nm

on the road....???

Err Mikasa,

Torque for big smiley Mazda 3 2.0L (your car version) is not 187NM? I remember the older Mazda 3 is having 184Nm@4000rpm. By overall, I give Mazda 3 (smiley) wins.

Mazda 3 (Smiley) MZR 2.0
1999cc, Bore x Stroke: 87.5mm x 83.1mm (oversquare type aimed for shorter stroke giving higher revv 6500rpm and higher output 150hp). Output: 150hp/6500rpm Torque: 187Nm/4000rpm.
Valve timing : Yes - VVT hydraulic type

I think Bermaz forgot to update its Mazda3 smiley specs. Its torque is confirmed 187Nm@4000rpm, not 182NM@4000rpm.

Hi darrel,

From what I know, the Civic Type R is tuned 100% for racetrack road only. On uneven normal roads, the car ride is sort of scary but no prob for those who love the thrill & fun. Do you think Civic Type R is more suitable to compete Lancer RallyArt or Lancer EVO?

Hi mikasa,

Since Bermaz is just importing CBU from Japan, should be no prob bringing in the Mazda Speed3.

Mazda3 2.0 vs Honda Civic 2.0,
on straight line acceleration, Civic wins. On tracks with lots of corners to beat, Mazda 3 stand the chance due to better mid-end torque and superior handling.

hi jayrap,

They are so many fake type R on the road esp. those with heavy tinted, not to let people view inside to spot the diff... for me type-R is more like a weekend car and for casual tracking, and its closest rival will be VW Golf Gti... EVO on the other hand will be on par with Impreza due to their proven capabilities in AWD rallying motorsports... in corners, any EVO will tapau the type-R for lunch smile_tongue.gif

Depend on driver skill, Malaysia road condition is different.
