Buy New Proton Persona Or Used Toyota Vios?

Just wondering whether I should get a new Proton Persona or a used Toyota Vios (not older than more than 5 years). Any suggestions?
I can only afford less than RM55,000. I sometimes wonder whether a second-hand Vios is more fuel efficient and safer than a new Persona.
Thanks

handling comparing stock to stock would be persona but if u get vios, u can modify the suspension to better ones...
comfort wise, both is on par.....nothing special on vios.......
acceleration sure..la vios, persona acceleration from standstill sucks.....and FC is high..full tank(RM65=35litres) city+highway drive can get around 300km-330km....
decision is urs

You need to test drive the second-hand Toyota Vios. Manual or Auto? Basic Vios does not have the handling as good as Persona. Vios is stereotypically chosen as the frugal tool to drive from point A to point B.
Herewith is an extract of a test drive review:
"Handling aside, the other, more impressive bit would have to be the carā€™s ability to cruise at hooligan-ish right lane speeds on the north-south highways in Malaysia. Not once will you find the engine intrusive, and it is in fact much more hushed up than a Vios could ever hope to be." http://www.oneshift....&pageid=4<br />

I would recommend opp for Persona, it have the advantage of bigger space, head/leg room, comfort and steady, 5 yrs warranty, bigger tyre (195/60/r15 vs 185/60/r15) new car smell, virgin.... down side are lack of pickup, higher fuel consumption (RM0.18/Km vs RM0.15/Km for average 50/50 usage). Many owners love the drive sensation of Persona.
