Anybody here has experience using this brand of shock? I could not get the OEM (Kayaba Unitrak) shock for my 1993 ZX6e1 as my mechanic told me the part is no longer being produced and no more in stock. He recommended me this shock. Since I trust him, got him to install on the bike. The journey from Tg. Sepat to S. Alam allowed me to test this new shock. Overall I feel its a bit harder as compared to the OEM but comfort is still there.
Any other reputable aftermarket shocks (besides Ohlins) available for an old bike like mine. I feel its getting harder and harder to get OEM parts for an old bike which gets me asking 'How long should I keep the bike?'

I have change to YSS for my 4 years old Honda Wave 125. So far so good. The price is reasonable for its quality.

He used a shock from what bike ?
I'm not aware of a replacement zx6e shock from YSS. How much did it cost ?

I also use a YSS monoshock. Quite pleased with the performance, esp considering the price....

YSS shocks for ZZR600e1 RM1800. Got preload and rebound damping. Rebound damping got 50 clicks adjustment. Built quality looks good. Can tune to soft and hard ride. Overall, quite satisfied with it.

Did you buy it from polly motor ?

Another seller quoted me about the same price for a similar shock for a zzr250. A fair price considering the original kawasaki shock only had 5 way preload adjustment and costs only slightly less.

But it was still much more expensive than a similar one for smaller bikes, and I couldn't see any difference in the technology used, so didn't go through with the purchase.

Yep. Got from Polly Motor. The guy has been servicing the bike for the past 15 yrs so I trust his judgement and pricing. Somehow I feel there's not much price difference for spare parts for ZZR250 and ZZR600. It feels weird to install a RM2000 shocks on a bike which may worth about RM5-6k. But if no choice, then bo saja.

Tried that, didn't work. Most bikes with monoshocks here don't use reducing rate linkage like the zzr does - this means directly actuated monoshocks like ones you see in 125z, lc, or tzm are usually far stiffer than what is needed for the zzr. Imagine riding a bike with a steel rod in place of a monoshock and you've got the rough idea of what it's like running those suspensions on the zzr.

The 125z one esp is way too stiff, I doubt anyone using that as a replacement shock have any idea what they're doing at all.

Though I am currently running a bracket and a somewhat-appropriately sprung monoshock. If I had known earlier you could get proper aftermarket suspension for the zzr. I would've saved rm500 in "failed attempts".

Actually you'd be surprised at the amount I've spent on tires, brakes, and suspension on my rm4.5k bike over the past 5 years. biggrin.gif
It's easily more than what I've spent on the engine.

People running duros or kendas and and 125z suspension on this bike are missing out on something big, IMO.
