Hi all,

I am not sure where does this topic belong, but I guess since we
discuss road blocks here, I thought I posted it here. My question is
exactly as the subject suggests...A friend of mine was stopped at a road
block. The police was probably checking for road tax or something like
that, and then by chance, spotted a CD wallet in the car. The fella
wanted to saman my friend for holding pirated stuff!?! Now the question
is, is this legal?Has such a ruling been passed recently for the police
to do this? Really would appereciate your thoughts and views
everyone..Thanks..:)

if they're TRAFFIC police, dont think they could. that's for the police
in BLUE uniforms. tell them to piss off.

in any case you could argue that you have all the originals at home, you
only carry copies so that the heat wont damage the precious originals that
you pay freakin 40 over bucks for.

Is the wallet empty?

Anyway, if they want to do that, you can also write down their number on
their tags.

They definitely do not have the rights to confisticate any item. They are
just traffic police and their knowledge is very limited to which is right
and which is wrong with road and driving matters.

a. Ask them what operations are they doing? If their mission is
exceptionally to find pirated CDs in cars, you are in for a trouble.
However, this never happens.
b. Challenge them for their name and numbers. Get the person in charge to
explain if you want.
c. Ask them to prove that your CD is pirated. They will look stupid for
some seconds. Big Smile
d. If they insist on having them, ask them to give you a "receipt" of
confisticating and make sure they sign and you have their numbers.
e. Jot down their number plates and get as many proofs as you can because
you never know how smart they can twist their stories with a lot of alibis.

I am a future lawyer but right now, the above is only what I know and what
I'll do. Big Smile
