After the Vpower, had tried a few runs on the century for the THP ... also found out something else.

Using sports mode, i clock around 10-11 secs .. gearchange at around 4.5k rpm

Using tiptronic, clock a few runs around 10 secs plus but i notice something strange .. I try to change from 1st to 2nd at around 5k + plus rpm but the gear change straight to 3rd then down to 2nd again on it's own ... I thought something is wrong with my gearbox until i found out that in tiptronic you can just step on it and it will change on 6k redline - I think i confuse the ecu by trying to shift at 5k + that is why it double shift up ....

Hit redline gets the century at 9.2 secs ...

This is in the hot afternoon .. i reckon it will be better at colder nights ... if ur interested in the graph, head to my blog.

Bro,

I read this in your blog, and saw the graph, mind sharing which is test 1, test2,3, 4 etc..

example;
test 1 = sport mode , test2 = tiptronic with manual shift etc

All in tip mode:

Trial 1: The good one, set to Tipmode, WOT and let the tiptronic shift by itself on redline.

Trial 2, 3 & 4: Tipmode also, but try to shift around 5.5k manually, but ended up the gearbox double shift to 3rd gear(skipped 2nd gear at around 60km/h and then shift back to 2nd gear at around 70km/h - hence the slowdown when reach 100km/h

Dude..

Sugguestion: can try compare the best run of Tip (auto change), best run Tip (manual change), best run sport mode, best run normal..

Did you log using gps?? I dont hv any instrument to experiment and do your 0-100 la..

Also, K&N drop-in filter..not effect?? Hmm, on their webpage they say something like this .."Drop filter design to increase HP and torque, but the open pod..guarentee increased HP and torque..notice the wordings..

And bro..where to get K&N drop-in for 308???

Yep. I'm planning to do also a more comprehensive test .. but minyak habis very cepat leh ... and cannot go nightime also ... afterwards wife say I curi makan ..mati! But from my few runs I would say V-power and K&N do not have any significant impact. I think only an ECU upgrade to boost pressure would. Removing K&N is also very troublesome .. cos of our tight enginebay with the airintake at rear of engine and our long bonnet .. usually give me backache after fixing K&N having to stretch across while afraid that I scratch my darling.

I log using my N95 with a software called "Sports Tracker", basically it will plot a graph with all the GPS infos. Cheapest/value for $ one is the nokia 5800 touch screen. GPS locking is a lot faster than my N95 also - hacking for a friend while testing ...

K&N I bought from EBay Malaysia (The guys is at UK) for around RM290 (Inclusive of postage), Speedworks quoted me RM400 ...

Stay tune, next trial will be after 10k service cos later will be busy with detailing chores ... hehe!
