Hi all,

I am keen to find what is the preferred style, when on highway and wants
to overtake someone in front, in the fast lane....I mean in general there
are 2 ways ie. "flash your lights" or "put a Right hand turn signal".

Happy commenting

Hi guys,

Sorry for not being specific...what I wanted to discuss was the way one
can alert the front car which is slower than you and hence you want to
overtake it ...SO do you normally "flash" or "right signal" ??

Now I would really opt for "signal" and not flashing bcoz Ifind it more
gentle and polite to the driver as some can get annoyed by the glare in
the night.Well of course an exception is flash only when you are still
far away eg. 100meters behind.

What do u guys think ?? Just for thoughts.Happy cruising.

depends lor....
when you're approaching him/her from far, he/she should have noticed you.
depends on the traffic situation, if he should give way but he doesn't,
then flash him.... signal? ha, i doubt anyone in front of you would give a
**** about it....

I will signal because:
1. May inform the car in front that I wanted to overtake.
2. Will definitely tell car BEHIND me that I am moving over to the outer
lane and tell them to watch out. Definitely don`t want them to do any
overtaking maneuver at the same time as me.
3. Flashing headlight may give some road bully wrong impression.

one or two flash means "to inform politely"....

those drivers whom cases appeared in news paper flash ppl in another way
round.... like wan to screw the driver in front up side down.... aigh.....

Okay guys actually this topic was much much more debated in the other
thread..."Highway Alert-Black BMW 318 "...please refer.

In general most of the forumers agree that SIGNAL is better or accepted
than FLASHING...and only flash esp. when it did not response to
your 'polite' SIGNAL.

Happy Cruising !!

I agree!

There are times when you're in the right lane to overtake, then suddenly
there's a car (usually luxury car or damn perasan Proton) in your rear
view mirror flashing his lights like mad from a mile behind!

Wah... it's like him saying, "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY ROYAL PATH, YOU
INSIGNIFICANT WORM!"

I usually give in to let the arrogant f*ck fly past (and collect the
speeding summons he so deserves), but not without showing him my rigid
middle finger.
