I can't speak for the whole of Australia but this applies to Victoria.
VicRoad (something like RTD) does not recognise Malaysian driving licence.
Whether you hold student visa or even Australian passport does not exempt
you from taking test. You have to go through theory test first followed by
practical test. However, you can obtained international driving licence
valid for 12 months but it is not worth it. However, one is allowed for 3
months and after that it is an offence to drive without a Victorian
driving licence. 10 year licence cost around A$130.

i was actually thinking of taking an international licence from AAM. it
only costs around RM 120 for a year and without the hassles of going thru
the numerous amounts of tests.

Mr Shaggy

I got only one thing to say "When in Rome, do what the Romans do". It's
quite responsible for you to think it's OK to break the law.

i was in perth before.. the best thing to do , is to get yourself an
aussie license.

at that time.. 96, its AUD50, need to show your malaysian license, plus
you need to take a short test, and you will get a 100% genuine australian
driving license.
