1st time I've heard lubes on offer at these stations (excluding special promo events)... are they allowed to do so?

mostly is cheaper at hypermarket bcoz API grade on SL ............... nowadays, the new stock is for API SM. That y price is higher.
any newer car with engine built in 2005 onwards, normally hv to us SM grade.

We need to pay more if any product goes through many ali-baba. Like PxxxXN parts, there are many middle man to deal with before end users.

C4 did it right by buying direct from EU in bulk & with volumes, they are able pass on saving benefits to consumers. If u buy from authorise distributors or petrol station..you are paying many middle man before enjoying the goods.

It is not how long C4 have kept the oil. Being a retail outlet, they will try to sell whatever stocks they hold fast.
It should be how old the oil are, before C4 bought them over. Could be old stock and got them cheap to sell cheap..... smile_tongue.gif

has anyone checked the expiry date on the bottle? did the oil get mouldy? smile_tongue.gif

Best is to choose fresh from factory. In any case, mfg date < 12 mths should be alright. Though, this is not edible oil but over some time...engine oil quality deteriorate esp. in hot climate plus high moisture country like us & the storage method.

This is also why, in cold climate country like in EU their cars need less change of engine oil.

In general, liquid lubricants (ie. oils, not greases) will remain intact for a number of years. The main factor affecting the life of the oil is the storage condition for the products. Exposure to extreme temperature changes, and moisture will reduce the shelf life of the lubricants. ie. don't leave in the sun with the lid off. Best to keep them sealed and unopened.

Normally will be kept in the house or store room, so the heat is negligible as engine oil can withstand very high heat..... smile_thumbup.gif
Maybe more towards moisture, therefore once open don't keep too long......Anyway won't be too long either, maybe next oil change...... smile_tongue.gif

Bro. Richard,
You mean oil leak out from unopened bottle??
Wonder why workshop have long overdue oil, unless they never practice first in first out, and kept stacking new stock on old stock.... smile_blackeye.gif
