The 320D is the obvious choice here. For 218K 0 mileage, practically new.

For the Audi, I don't think the service before and after is worth mentioning. Cars good and decent although pricey, but not worth the hassle having to put up with picky sales rep and poor after sales.
Workshops are a dread to visit. Ill equipped and lack of manpower to attend to you. !

Take a drive on both models before you plonked in your monies.
Audi's magnetic drive is not for everyone. The selection of ride comfort varies from one to another, and more than usual, most drivers seems not able to find one close to their liking.
Its either too soft or too hard and bouncy.

The BMW is standard suspension, and maybe cheaper to replace suspension as well compare with a magnet ride system.

With the budget coming, Diesel will hopefully be given incentive, and thus makes driving the BMW more sense and bang for the monies. And the BMW's torque is awesome !

the B8 audi is a CVT. so they are less likely to have issues vs their DSG boxes (or S-tronic, fancy name same shit)

audi 1.8TFSIs typically has oil consumption issues. do watch out for that. suspension knocking sound.

All B8 sifus,

May i know what's consider a good price for A4 1.8 TFSi ...year 2010? I've got a friend letting go to me... since it,s a 4 yearold car & running at 45K+ KM mileage ... any foreseeable major parts to replace ?

btw, i understand B8 have piston ring/oil leak & steering wobbling issue ... does this affect 1.8 tfsi and how much estimated cost to fix the 2 issues?

please share your opinions smile.gif

320d has carbon deposit issues. if you check the F30 forum, you'd see that a lot of people are complaining about clogged up oil filters and oil consumption.

it is very powerful and decently economical but the maintenance can be high as you will need to service more often.

oil burners are not recommended until Malaysia introduce cleaner diesels here. long term effects for high pressured diesel engines are still dodgy at best

A4 1.8 has issues on engine oil consumption. If there is excessive consumption, an overhaul needs to be done which if is still under warranty, its free. If extended warranty, labour charges and oil needs to be paid. But once warranty period is over, it will cost between 5K above depending on what parts are faulty.
So far, there aren't any complains on steering wobbling, but there is steering noise. Sometimes can be the steering rack or steering column. Estimated cost about 2K above.

If extended warranty, how much roughly it cost to overhaul the engine? I plan to get myself Audi A4 B8 1.8T Year 2010 but the mileage is hit 105k.

It stated full service by Audi Malaysia, but the service book only got the bar code. How can i call to check this car condition?

Thanks bro for the kind advice.

Sifu's,
Im on the same boat and need some advice here. I just my 2011 Audi A4 1.8T. Some workshops are suggesting to use Liqui Moly 5W-30/5W-40. I am trying to read forums and looks like Liqui Moly and Petro Canada are good brands , but are they good to use for Malaysian weather? Have anyone tried Liqui Moly or Petro Canada. Please advice.
