castrol magnetec 10W40 is semi syntetic engine oil , for shell helix you should know the type name like Helix ULTRA 10W40 is fully syntetic oil. Fully syntetic oil is definitely better than semi syntetic oil.

It may be better but it is definitely poorer value for money.

I think it is more towards application, like whether you require a Full synthetic oil for normal 1.3 engine? smile_question.gif

Castrol Magnatec 10/40 also can last 10,000km what. I've been at this 10,000km service interval using Catrol Magnatec for dunno how many years. My 7 yrs 4g18 still smooth like a baby butt.
Ram me if you can!

Yes. 10,000km interval. A foreman at a popular workshop told me Semi syntetic oil like Magnetec is for every 8000km. The price is much cheaper for Magnetec if not mistaken around RM90 compare to fully syntetic around RM 180 to RM200. This conclude that Semi syntetic oil is more economical.

Mineral can also last 10,000km in the same car at far cheaper price.

Shell Helix 10W-40 should be the blue-bottled semi-syn. Their fully-syn is 5W-40 and in a grey coloured bottle.

That means the Shell 10w-40 is semi syn. and not Full syn.
There is no actual which oil is better. Those who use Castrol will say that is better and those who use shell will say Shell is better.
For me, I am still on Bardahl Full syn. 5w-40 which I got for RM85 for 4L. I use because cheap...ha! ha!
