Hey gregy, fortunately you are right. Most accidents do occur at much
lower speeds than 160km/h, cos most drivers need to get their rides up to
such speeds first. And most of them don't anyway. I was just using 160km/h
since we were taking about cars going at that kinda speeds Wink So good
point you made there. Point blank collision with anything at 160km/h will
definitely mean certain death for the driver and its occupants. But maybe
not so, byt brushing against another car, or 'cruising' along the crash
barriers, cos a lot of momentum will have been lost when the car grinds to
a halt whacking something stationary or otherwise. That's why I say there
are too many variable factors involved. After all, you still remember the
kid who fell from the 16th floor and survived?! Everyone would have
thought the worst already. Same case here.

Er, never ever try to argue with a tree! You will definitely come off
worst. That's because the tree is immovable, and unlike hitting a moving
object, you feel the FULL impact of whacking a tree, whereas a mobile
object would have absorbed some of forces of the impact. So it's a
definite no-no introducing your ride to a tree.

Yeah, no matter whether you are a man or a woman, crashes like that
usually is fatal.
But the reason why I brought this fast ladies issue up is because, from my
point of view, the ladies have not earned the credits to be in the "fast"
category. Maybe some, a minority ...
Does not know how a brake pad looks like? What is a piston? Well, that
sort of questions that put the doubts in us.
Sound a bit like a male-chauvinist, eh...???

Makes one wonder why some cars for sale are advertised as being lady-
owned LOL! Are they trying to be brutally honest? Smile

Cire, some women do drive very fast. So they do belong in the fast
category. But the question at hand is how safely can they drive when
members of the fairer sex travels at those kinda speeds. Anticipation and
peripheral vision is paramount to ensuring that accidents are prevented.
When driving fast, we need to anticipate the car in front braking suddenly
cos an idiot from the second lane decides to dive into the fast lane. With
peripheral vision, we are then able to decide where our 'escape' route is.
Is there enough space on the left to squeeze in, as well as brake in time
behind the slower-moving vehicle in front of you? If this is not possible,
then don't drive so fast to begin with. Some ppl just drive fast (some men
included without doubt) without thinking. Yep, there's some strategy
involved when you wanna drive fast too Cool. But yeah, have to agree with
you Cire, that you are one big MCP! Big Smile Hmmm, let me take an educated
guess. If you encounter a car which overtakes you at blinding speed, and
out of the corner of the eye, you manage to catch a glimpse of the driver.
If it's a lady! I bet you give chase!!! Right? Wink

Well no.
You see, I am more afraid of her than being too MCP to chase actually.
I have been travelling the Hways so often that I am already fed-up with
this category of drivers.
Another thing, cannot imagine what its like when a lady driver crashed and
hurt..
To be frank, I am seriously undermining the capability of the ladies
drivers driving so fast. I mean driving stock standard Aeroback on a bumpy
hway above the 110kmph level.
Well, I guessed I am seasoned enough to get got in the MCP situation.

i believe some ladies are really skilled fast drivers while some are just

Cire, you are already an MCP by seriously doubting the ability of women
drivers Wink Well, most of them are bad, but not all. I have met some
women who are pretty capable, although I would like to think that I am
better. Hehehe...Big Smile And when lady drivers crashes and hurt themselves,
it's the same with the men la, dei. But I agree with robocop's statement
which describes many of the fast drivers on the road. It's either they are
reckless or skilful.

I agree with Alfamaniac, when driving fast, you need to leave room for an
emergency escape.

All 3 mirrors are tools for your escape routes so always check your rear,
left and right to you prevent your car from being boxed in for too long.

For frontal, it is best to know what's going 1 car ahead of you. Nowadays,
people tint and put crap on their rear screen so if you can't see through
the front car's rear screen.

An example is when you are going fast at 110km on a 2-lane highway with
buses overtaking lorries and few cars right behind the bus and you are
boxed in by the lorries on the left and rails on the right. In this case,
slow down to allow a bigger gap between you and the car in front.

Now for my comments for women driver. So far, I've encountered 2 fast but
bad women drivers.

First case in Penang - this looks like your mother and probably her
husband just bought her a 4-wheeler Storm. She drove like she RULED the
road. Changed lanes without signals and forcing cars to make a gap for her
because her car was bigger!

Second case along North-South highway - A Sentra was tailing me at 130km.
As usual the right lanes are all jammed up waiting in queue to overtake
lorries further up. I stuck to the right lane just behind the front car.
Sentra tried to overtake me on the left but I anticipated the move so I
accelerated to block the Sentra off. But this Sentra too garang for me. It
was half a car's length ahead of me on the left lane then forced its way
into the right lane without looking at the side mirror. I had to tekan
break and horned it before it kecut back into the left lane.

I simply just pulled into the left lane after some lorries to let the
dangerous Sentra pass. To my surprise, it was some mother and her small
daughter in it.
