Personally, Modenas Elegan is the best! I've owned RXZ, Kawasaki 150KR and Kawasaki K1 kapchai. None of these models can compare with Elegan that I'm using now, in terms of comfort, ease of handling (auto tranny), cruising speed (80 -90kmph, car standard), good pick up and sure footed due to low center of gravity. In addition, its very practical, can carry most of your necessities under the seat or on the flat floor footwell.
To sum up, owning the Elegan is like having the practicality of a kapchai while having the speed of the Kawasaki 150KR (of course the Kawasaki is faster). I highly recommend this scoot, because I thoroughly enjoy riding it to work or just joyriding! Well, anyway it all depends on what you're looking for in a bike.

Cheers! smile_cool.gif

Can't agree with u more bro! But don't forget the GTS 200 X2!! smile_thumbup.gif

Just wanted to know if anyone has researched or owned a Piaggio X8 250cc. Anyone has any thoughts on this scooter in terms of its parts, reliability and after sales? I think IBZI Asia along Federal H'way is sole distributor, who's also distributing VESPAS. Like the bike's design, fuel injection & 14 inch wheels (although might be a prob getting easy replacements as 14" is not as common!). Bike sells for about 25k. Is it worth it?

Not really done any r&d into the italian scoots. Anyone got the models and pricing for models we have in mesia?

Coming back to the locals scoots, which is the better small body sized scoot? Is it the elit, VRs, ego or click?

I've been riding Elegan for almost 2 years. Daily run is between 80 to 100km. Will not hesitate to recommend this scoot as to me it is the best bang for the buck - at least for my purpose.

It's performance is fairly good with tested top speed of 130kmh. Cruising at 110kmh is a cinch and you can do that basically indefinitely. You can maintain 120kmh for quite some time too but the engine sound a bit stressed. If you are in the mood, the top speed will ensure you seeing the chequered flag first against virtually any kapcai.

FC is 35km/l which to me is acceptable. The tank is 7 litre plus so you don't have to visit fuel station too often.

Maintenance is quite cheap too. I've done almost 28k km and it still using ori belt. For perspective, a driving chain would have to be changed several times for similar distance. I change engine oil every 4k km and gear oil every 8k km. This thing is almost kinda ride and forget bike since you almost virtually don't have to think about it at all. The only grouse is Modenas only have one service centre and of all places, it chosed Subang which is so damned forsaken far away place to go. angry.gif

Barring unexpected affordable new entry, the SYM GTS will be my next choice. But I really hope it will bring the 250cc version as I think the current 175cc doesn't seem to offer an appreciable upgrade in term of performance compared to Elegan.

spending time on reading this even it was many years and it is still really informative .....

now, SYM250 is on the road getting more and more.

actually, i am riding capcai and plan to get a used scooter. ideally is sym 250 but hear that it is expensive to maintain and also hard to get repaired.

elagent 200 and sym 200, don know which is better.

actually, my aim is used sym250, what do you think of this bike ?

if 250 is not recommended, then elegant and sym 200 is second choice ....

need your advise pls .... i am stay in ampang ..... hard to get workshop and parts ?

scooter in any way would be more expensive in maintenance and fuel consumption compared to similar size engine capacity of a normal bike.....

so choose wisely..

I've been using my Elegan for over 8 years now and am still enjoying it to this day. It has survived ciloking routines in Klang Valley, long distance riding on PLUS highways, countless trips to Sepang Circuit to see F1 race live, heavy down pour riding in Trengganu monsoons and now it is my trusted alternative transport rain or shine where I currently live...Melaka. Just a word of advise though...I always perform the servicing and relevant fluid changes at the recommended intervals. On top of that, I've changed to tubeless Michelin tyres front and rear one week after purchasing my Elegan and only kept to Michelin brand whenever tyre change is due to this day. I will continue to use my trusted and reliable Elegan for as long as she continues to provide me problem free riding smile_thumbup.gif Oh ya, perhaps one of the reasons my Elegan has given me years of dependable and problem free riding is due to my feeding her with only RON97 petrol at every refuelling sessions smile_blush.gif

I've used my Elegan many times to KLIA (during my days staying in Shah Alam many years ago) and park it at the motorcycle parking to catch a flight to various destinations in the country for my appointments and whether I return back on the same day (evening) or an overnight or 2 nighter trip, my Elegan cranks back to life at first start attempt to bring me back to Shah Alam, rain or shine.

And one very very big plus of using an Elegan be it in kampungs or in the cities...No one is interested to curi an Elegan. So at least, one can go on to do whatever appointments or errands with a peace of mind after parking their Elegan at any motorcycle parking lot...One can go to sleep peacefully and rest easy to know that their Elegan will still be around the next morning even without engaging the steering lock smile_thumbup.gif

Called up a few shops in KL and was told that Modenas Elegan 200 is not selling anymore. Is the information given to me correct?

I think I should update this thread that I got myself a silver SYM VTS 200 for more than 1 year.

It's very nice to ride to work thanks to loads of storage and protection from the weather. Power and pickup is very good too!
